The operator must be aware of which foam (3%, 6%) he is using; also he must calculate the amount of water discharged at that point by the pump. This all involves calculations which normally will be very difficult to do at fire calls. Very often the foam is induced by  one's  judge ment, result - improper foam quality and inefficient fire extinguishing.Why Automatic foam Proportioner?This system will induct the exact required foam percentage into the fire pump automatically; also it will automatically adjust the foam percentage as the flow from the pump varies. For e.g. if the fireman is using only one hand line with foam branch then the Proportioner will adjust the foam % which is just suitable for that line; nevertheless if the foam monitor is operated at any given  point   then  the  foam   Proportioner   will  automatically increase and adjust the foam percentage to suit the discharge from monitor, no operator involvement is required. This saves the foam compound and final quality of expanded foam is good. This system can be used with 1%, 3% and 6% foam and is suitable for all types of foam currently used. The accuracy of the system is up to the mark and can be used right from 200 lpm to 6000 lpm capacity fire pumps. What more! A constant volume arrangement in a high pressure turbulent piping system to avoid pressure thrust and flow turbulence. This is obtained by two balancing bellows whose total cross sectional area is equal to that of In-line bellow. This bellow is widely used in viscous liquid systems having turbulence.

Pressure Balanced Bellows Expansion Joints are normally used where a change of direction occurs in a run of piping and pressure thrust to be absorbed. The deflections are controlled by the universal type expansion joints so as to accept the lateral movements and the pressure balanced elbow is usually required to accept the axial deflections also present. Moreover a bellow is also incorporated beyond the elbow in order to accept the various movements present & to balance thrust force. This balancing bellow is connected by tie rods to the pipe beyond the universal section which enables the pressure thrust to be contained as tension in the tie rods. The main features of these bellows is that apart from absorbing axial and lateral movements, the pressure forces remain in balance, the balance pressure thrust remains constant and there is no volume change.

The principles of In-line pressure balanced bellows expansion joints is more or less similar to the Pressure balanced bellows except that the axial pressure thrust is reacted by the pressure acting on a cross sectional area equal to the area of the working of primary bellows.A constant volume arrangement created by two balancing bellows whose difference in cross sectional area is twice that of the in-line bellows thus eliminating the pressure-thrust without change in direction.As this expansion joint is entirely axial and there being no directional changes in the pipe, the cross sectional area needed to balance the pressure is placed around the outside of the unit. Moreover as the pressure forces are generated by the pressure acting on the annular surface between the primary and the outer balancing bellows, the arrangement of the tie rods transfers and balances the pressure thrust created in the pipe on each end.
