Wesman has a full range of Bogie Hearth type Reheating and Heat Treatment Furnaces up to a capacity of 500 MT to offer to Foundry Cast House, Pressure Vessels, Heavy Structurals, Forgings and other metal industries with temperature range of 200 deg C to 1350 deg C. These furnaces can be offered with single/double doors with single/double bogies to meet the customer’s requirement. An intermediate door to divide a large furnace in two parts/chambers can also be designed, if desired. The material are loaded on the bogie with the help of EOT crane or any mechanical device and the loaded bogie is pushed into the furnace over rails by means of electro-mechanical rack and pinion or rope and drum type bogie drive mechanism. The furnaces can also be offered with coro-rollers type bogie drive arrangement. After the reheating/heat treatment operation, the bogie can be taken-out from the furnace and material can be unloaded for further process. The Billets will be brought / stored on the charge grate and pushed one by one to the approach charge roller table. Necessary Charge positioning device will be provided to enable the charge to be located in the furnace properly in single or double row. The Billets will be charged in the furnace in single or double row by pushing with suitable hydraulically operated charge pusher mechanism. In order to achieve better temperature uniformity of the Billets, the furnace will be designed with adequate number of independent thermal control zones. There will be another unfired preheating zone which will act as recuperative zone to preheat cold Billets. The furnace will be equipped with ENCON burners. These burners will be located on the side or rear wall and can easily handle high air preheat temperature. A convection type multi-tubular recuperator for preheating the combustion air from the flue gas leaving the furnace. The furnace zone temperature will be automatically controlled through mass-flow based instrumentation. Instrumentation for temperature & pressure as well as control & other safety system are PLC-PC based. Necessary furnace pressure control instruments will be used. Complete interlocking and sequential control of the furnace will be carried out through Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) with or without any redundancy of the CPU.

Reheating Furnace is the heart of any hot rolling mill where in the charge is heated to rolling temperature. The charge could be in the form of billets, blooms, slabs or ingots. The type of furnace could be pusher, walking hearth or walking beam – either top fired or top and bottom fired. OPERATION The fuel used could be either oil or gas. The burners are located in a manner so as to achieve uniform heat distribution. The radiation heat energy is efficiently transferred through the useful heat transfer area created by the charge bed. The furnace is basically divided into three zones namely preheating, heating and soaking zones. The actual heating takes place in the heating zone. The temperature uniformity up to desired limits between the core and the surface is achieved in the soaking zone. The flue gases move in a direction opposite to that of the charge thereby ensuring considerable amount of waste heat recovery by convection in the preheating zone, which is also termed as the recuperative zone.
