Synthetic slag consists of prepared mixture of several individual oxides which is used during secondary steelmaking to assist the steel treatment in the ladle furnace from the viewpoint of effective refinement. Synthetic slag practice is normally used to obtain clean steels and also for the desulphurization of the liquid steel.

Our Synthetic Slag adjusts the Slag composition in such a way that it interacts with steel in a very balanced way thus maintaining proper equilibrium with the Steel. This helps in absorbing inclusions and impurities, and thus producing cleaner and better quality steel. Our Synthetic slag also adjusts the basicity of Slag, lowers the melting temperature of slag and increases its fluidity. This helps the slag to remove sulphur from the steel in form of sulphides, which moves easily towards more fluid slag. Hence it can also acts as desulphurising agent. The increased basicity and fluidity of slag also minimizes the erosion of refractory lining thus increasing the ladle life greatly. Synthetic Slag is neither a by-product nor a blended material, but a calcium aluminates with controlled composition. Pre-melting ensures a homogenous consistent chemical composition, as well as themost efficient mineralogical phases.   In secondary metallurgy, Synthetic Slag is preferably added during the tapping operation of the steel into the ladle. The flux will quickly form a reactive and fluid slag with the other materials.   The low melting point mineral phases of Synthetic Slag, including C12A7, will efficiently create a clean and creamy slag, suitable for trapping non-metallic inclusions. One of the main objectives of Synthetic Slag is to form a slag suitable for enhancing steel cleanliness.
