The two-hinged arches are formed out of mild-steel flat of rectangular section. The arch is supported at one end and at the other end ball-bearings are provided which run on a smooth block. Load hangers are provided for loading. Three-hinged arch machined from Aluminium casting is provided in pieces and resembles bridge deck. Combining two pieces by means of a central pin can form the symmetrical or unsymmetrical arch. One end of the arch is supported by a bracket fitted to the universal frame, the other end is provided with a roller support, which runs on a smooth block. The horizontal thrust is measured by means of a dial gauge, which ensures that the arch end can be brought to its original position.
