The low overall pressure loss characteristic of a venturi, reduces operating costs and head requirements of prime movers in systems. : The venturi can be supplied in any material including plastics. The materials generally used are SA105, SA182F316L, SA182F304L, Inconel, Duplex SS, Monel etc. Venturi upstream pressure tap is located at the mid of inlet cylinder & the downstream pressure tap is located at midpoint of the throat. When averaging is required, the pressure tapping can be taken through piezometric ring or also called as annular ring. This can be manufactured from forging or can even be fabricated from rolling the pipes, as per requirement.

Ventuary is a device for mixing fine spray of liquid with gas or measuring a flow rate of a gas. It consists of two tapered section of pipe joined by a narrow throat. The liquid velocity in the throat is increased and the pressure is reduced. Air flows through a Venturi channel at whose throat vapor enters through an opening drawn in by the low pressure. The pressure diffential can also be used to measure fluid flow.
