The Non-conventional Method of making Sponge Iron is done in the Tunnel Kiln Process as compared to the Old Rotary Kiln process. In the conventional process of Tunnel Kiln Process, the Iron Ore and Coal are fed in the Crucibles or Saggars of Silicon Carbide and Loaded on the Trolleys. These trolleys are then fed to the Tunnel Kiln for reduction and the Product is Sponge Iron. In the Conventional Method, it takes almost 40hrs for the Complete Process. Details : In the Tunnel Kiln Process also, we have three different Technologies, which are as follows : Conventional Process Reduction Time 40 hrs, with SiC Saggars. Non-Conventional Process Reduction Time 6 hrs, with SiC Saggars. Saggerless Process This is most innovative process, where No Saggars are required, so lots of cost reduction is there. The Total Process takes about half the Time as compared to the Non-Conventional Tunnel Kiln Process. The Total Time for the Product to come out will be 2-3 hrs only. So the Plant Capacity will be increased drastically over the Conventional Process.
