Vijaysar (Pterocarpus marsupium):- Vijaysar pacifies Kapha and Pitta doshas so it can be used effective for diseases related which Kapha/ Pitta or both. Vijaysar is an important big tree whose bark is very useful in disease like diabetes.It states that Sanskrit names of Vijaysar are beejak, peetsaar, peetshalak, bandhuk- pushp, priyak, sarjak and asan.It is good for skin and healthy hair. It is useful for major skin diseases like leprosy, leucoderma as well as for eczema and worm infestation. It is recommended for managing disorders related to vitiated Kapha and pitta.The height of this tree is up to 10-15 mtrs. The trunk of Vijaysar is smoky which bears vertical slits. It produces gum which is red in color. Leaves and foliage of this tree bear wavy margin. This tree bears yellowish flowers. It has legumes which contain two seeds.  

Turmeric comes from the root of Curcuma longa, a leafy plant in the ginger family. The root, or rhizome, has a tough brown skin and bright orange flesh. Ground Turmeric comes from fingers which extend from the root. It is boiled or steamed and then dried, and ground.India is the world's primary producer of Turmeric. It is also grown in Vietnam and India.Turmeric is a necessary ingredient of curry powder. It is used extensively in Indian dishes, including lentil and meat dishes, and in Southeast Asian cooking. Turmeric is routinely added to mustard blends and relishes. It also is used in place of saffron to provide color and flavor.Turmeric is mildly aromatic and has scents of orange or ginger. It has a pungent, bitter flavor.  

Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum): Tulsi belongs to the Labiatae or mint family and is now cultivated widely across the world for both religious and medicinal purposes as well as for its essential oil. Tulsi has known to be used for its medicinal qualities for over 1000 years and ancient Ayurvedic texts refer to Tulsi as the ‘elixir of life’. The plants leaves, stems and seeds are used for relieving purposes. Tulsi is known to relieve almost all ailments including common colds, digestive problems, breathing problems, stress, blood sugar, heart problems, fever and even ulcers. The oil from the seeds of this herb is now also being used to relieve cancer.  

Baheda chhilka (Terminalia bellirica): -The plant grows well in dry and deciduous forests of common plains. It is mostly found in South Asia such as India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and China. In India, it is mostly found in the plain dry forests of Tamil Nadu, Assam, Odisha, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. The tree prefers tropical climate. Bibhitaki, also known as Baheda in Hindi, is one among three fruits of Triphala. Its actual Sanskrit name is Vibheetaki. Bheeta means fear. Vibheeta means lack of fear and Vibheetaki means the fruit that takes away the fear of disease.The tree is found almost in all parts of India, in lower parts of hills.  

Star anise is the dried, star shaped fruit of Illicium verum. It is an evergreen tree attaining a height of 8-15 meters and a diameter of 25 cm.Star Anise is indigenous to South Eastern China. Commercial production is limited to China and Vietnam. In India, it is produced to a small extent in Arunachal Pradesh. The crop requires specific agro climatic conditions available only in the traditional growing areas, which has prevented repeated attempts of other countries to grow star anise. However it prefers woodlands, sunny edges, and dappled shade. The plant grows well in humus rich, mildly acidic to neutral soils, which are light to medium and having good drainage. Star anise is one of the signature flavors of Chinese savory cooking. The five-spice powder mix common in China contains star anise. It is used to flavor vegetables, meat, and to marinate meat. It is used as a condiment for flavoring curries, confectionaries, spirits, and for pickling. It is also used in perfumery. The essential oil of star anise is used to flavor soft drinks, bakery products and liquors. The fruit is anti-bacterial, carminative, diuretic and stomachic. It is considered useful in flatulence and spasmodic.    

Nutmeg is the seed kernel inside the fruit and mace is the lacy covering (aril) on the kernel. The nutmeg seed is encased in a mottled yellow, edible fruit, the approximate size and shape of a small peach. The fruit splits in half to reveal a net-like, bright red covering over the seed. This is the aril which is collected, dried and sold as mace. Under the aril is a dark shiny nut-like pit, and inside that is the oval shaped seed which is the nutmeg. Nutmegs are usually sold without the mace or hard shell. Used in small dosages nutmeg can reduce flatulence, aid digestion, improve the appetite and treat diarrhea, vomiting and nausea. Nutmeg’s flavor and fragrance come from oil of Myristica, containing Myristica, a poisonous narcotic. Myristica can cause hallucinations, vomiting; epileptic symptoms and large dosages can cause death. These effects will not be induced, however, even with generous culinary usage.  

Neem (Azadirachta indica): - whole plant is used for its medicinal uses. Leaves and bark is used as blood purifier and are best to use for various skin troubles. Fruits of the plant are good carminative, purgative and emollient. Flowers are very good tonic and used for treating stomach disorders. Sanskrit name used for this herb is arishta that means perfect, complete and imperishable. Nature has served this plant with various organic compounds that are used as insecticides and pesticides. Wood of this plant is very hard and resistant to termite, bacteria, parasites and fungi. Commercially this wood is used for making doors, carts, yokes, packing boxes, ceiling blocks, furniture and also used in ships and boats. Bark is bitter, astringent and tonic used for the treatment of fever, nausea, vomiting and skin aliments. This herb is native to India and found in tropical and sub-tropical regions of India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. In India it is available in open grasslands, woodlands, food plains and costal sites.

Kulanjan (Alpinia Galanga): -It is commonly known as Siamese ginger, Thai ginger or galangal is a tropical evergreen perennial with a thick aromatic rhizome. It is native to Southeast Asia. For culinary use, the rhizome is typically cut up into small pieces, thin-sliced, pounded into a paste, or dried and powdered for inclusion as a flavoring in a variety of food dishes such as soups and curries.Alpinia Galanga rhizome is used against rheumatism, bronchial catarrh, bad breath and ulcers whooping colds in children, throat infections, to control incontinence and fever. Alpinia species show promise as anti-fungal, hypotensive, enhancers of sperm count and motility. Anti-tumor and anti-dementia effects have been observed in rodents. Alpinia Galanga is a stimulating aromatic and has been successfully employed to aid the digestive process, preventing fermentation and removing flatus. It is useful in case of dyspepsia, preventing vomiting or sickness of the stomach and facilitating digestion. It may be used in all cases in which a stimulating aromatic is indicated. It tones up the tissues and is sometimes prescribed in fever. Homoeopaths use it as a stimulant. It has some reputation as a remedy for perennial relaxation with hemorrhoids and for a lax and pendulous abdomen. It is used as a snuff to treat cold and flu symptoms.  

Kuchala (Strychnous nuxvomica): -It is a medium-sized tree with a short, crooked, thick trunk. The wood is white hard, close grained, durable. Branches are irregular, covered with a smooth ash-coloured bark. Young shoots are deep green, shiny. Oppositely arranged short stalked leaves are elliptic, shiny, smooth on both sides, about 4 inches long and 3 broad. Flowers are small, greenish-white, funnel shaped, borne in small clusters at the end of branches they have a disagreeable smell. Fruit is about the size of a large apple with a smooth hard shell which when ripe is orange colored, filled with a soft white jelly-like pulp containing five seeds. The seeds are like flattened disks densely covered with closely apprised satiny hairs, radiating from the center of the flattened sides and giving to the seeds a characteristic sheen. It is recommended for upset stomach, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, intestinal irritation, hangovers, heartburn, insomnia, certain heart diseases, circulatory problems, eye diseases, depression, migraine headaches, nervous conditions, problems related to menopause, and respiratory diseases in the elderly. In folk medicine, it is used as a healing tonic and appetite stimulant. Nux vomica is a common homeopathic medicine prescribed for digestive problems, sensitivity to cold, and irritability.  

Kaunch Beej (Mucuna pruriens): -Mucuna pruriens or Kaunch is one of the popular medicinal plants of India. It is widespread over most of the subcontinent and is found in bushes and hedges and dry-deciduous, low forests throughout the plains of India.Mucuna pruriens have been long used to increase the sexual libido in both men and women.The beans of Mucuna pruriens is being also used on sportspersons to increase their muscle mass. These seeds also help in improving the memory power and help to gain weight which is lost due to excessive exercise. It is recognized as an aphrodisiac in Ayurveda and helps increase testosterone levels, leading to deposition of protein in the muscles and increased muscle mass and strength. Gokhru (Tribulus terrestris): -Tribulus is known as Gokshura in Ayurveda. It is an ancient herb, used since thousands of years for its immense medicinal qualities. Its botanical name is Tribulus terrestris. Tribulus, in modern day, is used for body building, to relieve diseases of uro-genital system and as an aphrodisiac. It belongs to Zygophyllaceae family.Gokhru is used to treat various clinical conditions like sexual weakness in men, kidney dysfunction, urine problem, dysuria, Leucorrhoea (Shveta Pradar) etc. It helps in breaking and elimination of kidney stone from body. Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia): - It is a climbing shrub. Barks are gray-brown or cream-white and warty. Leaves re broad, pointed at the tip and having margin. Small flowers appear in summer and fruits in winter. The plant climbing on a neem tree is considered to be therapeutically more useful.It is Ant periodic, Antipyretic, Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory. It is a constituent of several compound preparations. It is used in fever, urinary disorders, dyspepsia, and torpidity of the liver, skin diseases, secondary syphilis, rheumatism, constipation, tuberculosis, leprosy and general debility. It is also used in treatment of rheumatism and jaundice. It is a blood purifier and may be useful in AIDS and other immune diseases also. It is also being proposed for cancer patients before and after chemotherapy.It is a very useful treatment for gout and high uric acid.

Devadaru (Cedrus deodra): -Cedrus Deodra is known as Deodar or Himalayan Cedar. In Sanskrit the name is Devadaru. Deodar is a majestic, tall tree which grows to great heights, has wide girth and lives very long. Its appearance is very beautiful. Deodar is found through western Himalayas, ranging from Kashmir to Garhwal regions. It is mostly grown as an ornamental tree. Deodar is widely used for construction purposes. It is rot-resistant, durable and fine.Deodar oil is antiseptic in nature and is useful in relieving sores, skin diseases, ulcers and wounds. It is also useful for reducing fever, headache, piles, and urogenital diseases. It is known as antidiarrheal, carminative, diuretic, diaphoretic and insecticide. The heartwood is useful for laxative, anti-inflammatory, sedative, cardio tonic and other disorders. Leaves are acrid and bitter in taste and used for reducing inflammation.
