Cochin Wood Industries is a well-known manufacturer of high-quality plywood products, particularly used in construction, infrastructure, and marine environments. The company is recognized for its durable, reliable, and eco-friendly plywood solutions tailored to meet the demands of heavy-duty applications. Product Description:The Marine Shuttering Plywood 18mm 45Kg HD Grade from Cochin Wood Industries is a heavy-duty, moisture-resistant plywood designed for marine and concrete formwork applications. With a thickness of 18mm and a weight of 45 kg, this plywood is engineered for high-performance use in environments where strength, water resistance, and long-term durability are essential. Key Features: 18mm Thickness: The 18mm thickness strikes a balance between strength and weight, providing ample support for concrete formwork and ensuring the plywood can handle the pressure exerted by wet concrete without compromising its integrity. 45Kg Weight: This plywood sheet weighs approximately 45 kg, which reflects its high-density construction. It is designed to bear heavy loads, making it ideal for large-scale construction projects that require strong, reliable formwork. Marine Grade (PF-Marine): The marine-grade treatment ensures that the plywood is resistant to water absorption, preventing damage like swelling, delamination, or rot. It is especially suited for use in moist, humid, and marine environments, where exposure to water is a common concern. HD Grade (Heavy Duty): The HD Grade classification indicates that this plywood is designed for heavy-duty applications, capable of withstanding the high mechanical stress encountered in demanding construction environments. This makes it ideal for both concrete formwork and marine construction projects. Water Resistance:The Marine Grade (PF-Marine) treatment makes this plywood highly resistant to moisture, ensuring that it maintains its structural integrity even when exposed to water. Whether used in marine construction like piers and docks, or in concrete formwork that will be exposed to wet conditions, this plywood resists swelling and warping over time. Durability & Reusability:Designed for multiple uses, the plywood’s high strength and moisture resistance allow it to endure through numerous concrete pours and exposure to wet conditions without degrading. This reusability makes it an economical choice for contractors looking to maximize the lifespan of their formwork materials. Surface Quality:The plywood typically features a smooth, laminated surface, which helps in the easy release of concrete once it has set. This ensures that the formwork can be removed cleanly without damaging the concrete or the plywood, facilitating multiple cycles of reuse. Applications: Concrete Formwork: Ideal for creating molds for poured concrete in foundations, walls, beams, slabs, and columns. Marine Construction: Perfect for marine environments such as piers, docks, sea walls, and other coastal infrastructure, where exposure to water is constant. High-Humidity Areas: Well-suited for construction in humid environments where moisture resistance is crucial to prevent damage to the plywood. Strength and Load-bearing Capacity:The plywood’s heavy-duty construction ensures it can withstand high loads and pressures during concrete pouring. It has excellent load-bearing capacity, making it stable and reliable even under the weight of large volumes of wet concrete. Environmental Considerations:Cochin Wood Industries is committed to environmentally friendly practices, sourcing wood from sustainable forests. The plywood is treated with non-toxic chemicals to enhance its moisture resistance and ensure its longevity without harming the environment. Cost-effectiveness:While this plywood is a premium product due to its marine-grade treatment and heavy-duty performance, its durability and reusability make it a cost-effective solution for long-term construction projects. Hardwood plywood is made out of wood from angiosperm trees and used for demanding end uses. Hardwood plywood is characterized by its excellent strength, stiffness and resistance to creep. It has a high planar shear strength and impact resistance, which make it especially suitable for heavy-duty floor and wall structures. Oriented plywood construction has a high wheel-carrying capacity. Hardwood plywood has excellent surface hardness, and damage- and wear-resistance. Most Popular Types of Hardwood Plywood 1) MDF (Medium Density Fiber Core) has a core made of wood dust mixed with a binding agent then heat pressed. The end result is a sturdy, resilient, and workable material. The upsides of MDF is it never splinters, maintains a smooth surface, resists warping and holds screws in place well. The downside of MDF is that a sheet of it weighs 70 to 100 pounds. 2) PBC (Particleboard Core) is similar to MDF as it is made the same by binding wood pieces with glue instead of wood dust as does MDF. It also is heat pressed for a smooth, solid material. Its uses are almost exactly the same as MDF such as uses for cabinet making and carpentry work. The only difference between the two is the components the two are made of makes the PBC more lightweight. This makes PBC more favorable among most contractors. 3) HDP (High Density Plywood) has many positive attributes but the main reason it is chosen over the others is its strength due to its many layers. It contains up to nine layers of directional hardwood veneer. HDP is used for building high quality, sound cabinetry that may contain very heavy contents. 4) VC (Veneer Core ) consists of three layers of veneer with staggered grain at right angles for a structure that otherwise would break easily if grain were running with each other. To provide more strength, these layers are glued together. VC is used to build cabinets, furniture, as well as counter tops and tabletops. 5) Calibrated Core/Platform is used when precision is a must. It's inner ply will only vary .005 inch, which dictates its measured perfection at any location across the board. Calibrated core is used on the most upscale cabinetry and furniture that cannot tolerate differences in thickness.
