Grammage is a major aspect of quality for many different materials such as fabrics, paper, corrugated boards, cardboards etc. The grammage is used for testing the properties, quality and strength of a material. With correct evaluation of the GSM, the manufacturers can easily determine the requirements for processing of the materials. GSM Cutter: The GSM cutter is a competent instrument that is used for accurate cutting of a circular disc from the test sample. This circular disk serves as a test specimen to find out the GSM of the sample. There are four knives that are highly sharp and cut the circular disc of a 100 cm2 area. To operate the instrument, the sample is placed between the cutting board and cutter. After the placement of the cutter, the knob of the cutter is rotated clockwise this gives a perfectly shaped circular disc with accurate dimensions. Digital GSM Balance: After the specimen is cut from the sample, it is weighed using a highly accurate and sensitive digital GSM balance which gives an accurate measurement of GSM of the products. The instrument is provided with a digital display which eventually provides the readings directly in GSM. No further calculation is needed.
