Scratch hardness tester is a tool to check the resistance of the coating against the scratching due to external physical strain. In this test, a metal piece is coated with the sample of paint or varnish or lacquer that is to be tested. A needle is used to scratch the sample. A specified load is applied on the sample via needle as per the industrial requirements. The needle makes repeated attempt to scratch the sample. The sample is put to test by setting the number of movements of the needle. The test can be done on all type of coatings and other bulky materials like plastics, elastomers and rubbers. Presto offers motorised model of scratch resistance tester to minimise the human interference. In this machine, there is a motorised assembly to move the needle to and fro, a specified weight is applied on the needle as per the industrial standards. This test determines the scratch resistance and wear and tear of the sample. This machine is widely used in laboratories, quality management departments of the manufacturing units. Easy changeability of weights. Provides accurate results in digital indicator. It requires single phase power of 220-240V AC and 50Hz. It ensures highly safe and convenient operations. Motorized oscillating arm with Teflon rollers for noise free movement Ergonomic design with Electronic controls Highly accurate test results under uniform load and specified diameter. Equipped with Teflon rollers to minimize friction Fully Automatic testing through motorized system Uniform load by weights on needle for evenness in testing Firm holding of Test sample by Steel Clamping pins Geared system for oscillating arm movement Instant braking system Light Indicator for sample failure notification

Presto’s Scratch hardness tester is an effective tool used to perform tests related to scratch resistance under a specified load. It can be used for diversified products like lacquers, varnishes, and paints. The tester is recommended mainly for paint and plating industry and designed especially for small laboratories where continuous quality control tests need to be conducted. Hardness can be explained as a material’s resistance to permanent deformation. In the coating industry, this measurement can be used to measure the resistance of the coating to scratch from normal wear and tear and also if the coating is fully protected. The term Hardness is used to explain the various properties of material, namely – Resistance to scratch & wear and Resistance to penetration. As per the requirements, these are different methods for measuring hardness. Some of them are used for measuring coatings, and others are used to test various bulky materials like plastics, metals, elastomers and rubbers. The test procedure for laboratory testing equipment is carried out by testing a sample at a specified load on the needle or by enhancing the weight to conclude the minimum load at which the coating can be pierced. It is a highly reliable and durable instrument. The testing instrument conforms to ISO standards and available with conformance certificate along with instruction manual.

Presto IRHD Rubber Hardness Tester determines the hardness of rubber and rubber components. Hardness is one of the most important properties which determine the suitability of any rubber component for its intended use. Incorrect hardness of may defeat the basic purpose for which the component is designed. Thus, accurate and reliable determination of the hardness is of extreme importance in rubber industry. The Presto IRHD Rubber Hardness Tester is widely used in the rubber industry to evaluate this important property. The Presto IRHD (International Rubber Hardness Degrees) tester is equipped with a spherical indentor, which indents the sample under a minor and major Load. The differential indentation depth is measured and tabulated to read directly in ‘IRHD’ degrees.
