The water filtration process involves the flow of water via a granular bed of filtring sand or another suitable media. The water to be filtered flows at a low speed. The media (the filter) retains most of the solid matters and let the water pass through it. In the demineralization system the water first contacts a cation exchange resin and then an anion exchange resin to bring about the complete removel of all ions in water. When the water contacts the STRONG ACID CATION(SAC) RESIN the hydrogen form, the cations associated with alkalinity or those combined as neutral salts in water exchange with hydrogen ions of resin and this result in the production of water from the SAC exchanger. The acidic water the flows into the STRONG BASE ANION(SBA) RESIN the hydroxide form, the anions of neutral salts, weak ionized species such as carbon dioxide and silica in water exchange with hydroxide ions of the resin resulting in production of de-ionized or de-mineralized water.

Reverse Osmosis Systems
When a semi permeable membrane separates two aqueous solutions of different concentrations, solvent travels from the dilute solution to the concentreted soultion. This natural phenomenon is called OSMOSIS, which continues until equilibrium between the two soultions is reached. The flow of solvent can be reversed by applying external pressure to the concentrated soultion. This reversal of solvent flow is known as REVERSE OSMOSIS. The principle is widely applied to produce fresh water from brackish and even sea water to produce specific treated water quality for various applications.
