Cork Rubber underlayment is an expert at preventing cracks in your tile from settling and the natural movement over time. One can think of this underlayment as an invisible bodyguard that keeps your floor looking good even though it’s out of site. Cork rubber also has less give, making it less likely to flex underneath your planks.

Rubber cork gasket materials are produced from top quality cork intimately bonded with a synthetic rubber, which may be EPDM, SBR, Nitrile, Neoprene or Polyurethane type. The chemical properties of the material are determined partly by those of the cork and largely by the type of the rubber used. In order to make the right choice in terms of material, it is essential to be familiar with the mechanical, thermal and chemical conditions to which a particular gasket will be subjected during operation

Most of todays non-asbestos gasket materials contain either Kevlar, an aramid fiber, fiberglass, carbon, graphite or another mineral fiber. Regardless of the manufacturer, the basics are the filler and the elastomer used. While no two compounds (or the % of filler) are identical, the basic Elastomers are: NBR (Buna-N), SBR, EPDM or Neoprene. If you examine which material you need (as defined by the application) and select the non-asbestos gasket material with that elastomer you will usually do well. This method will also allow you to select a competitive brand that will serve your application. No two materials are identical so caution must always be exercised.
