Dispersion modeling is the mathematical simulation of how air pollutants disperse in the ambient atmosphere. Dispersion modeling uses mathematical equations and algorithms to characterize the atmospheric processes that disperse an air pollutant emitted by a source. the dispersion models are used to estimate or to predict the concentrations at selected downwind receptor locations of air pollutants emitted from sources such as industrial plants, mines, vehicular traffic or accidental chemical releases. these models are used to determine compliance with national ambient air quality standards (naaqs), and other regulatory requirements. The ministry of environment and forests (moef) requires the background air quality levels to be reported in all environmental impact studies (eia) with the predicted values based on dispersion models. air dispersion modeling services include: plume dispersion modeling and screening mobile source (e.g. Traffic) emission and impact assessment simple and complex terrain modeling good engineering practice stack height evaluations air quality control plan modeling dispersion at the land-sea interface development of comprehensive ambient air quality monitoring network plan naaqs attainment demonstrations.
