Housing: The housing of MCB is injection moulded from special grade of Nylon as per international specifications. The housing and other moulded componenets are fire retardant, anti-tracking and non-hygroscopic. The housing can with stand high temperature and is impact resistant. Contacts: Contacts are made of special silver inlaid copper strip, ensuring higher life and maximum safety against contact welding and erosion. These contacts have low contact resistance resulting in reduced watt loss. Current Limiting Actions: The high speed current limiting actions ensures that the MCB operate before the full prospective fault current is allowed to develop. Under fault conditions, damage can be sustained to the installation and associated equipement due to the amount of energy that passes before the current is completely interrupted. The total energy let through depends on the value of current and the time for which it flows, and is denoted by the symbol 12t. The high speed current limiting action of MCB ensures that the energy let through and any subsequent damage is minimized. The reduced LET THROUGH ENERGY (Class 3 as per EN 60898-1) assists greatly with both back-up and discrimination considerations.

When overload values exceed the value specified for different characteristic curves i.e. B & C strong Magnetic field is induced which results into instantaneous tripping of MCB. Effective Quenching 1. Arc produced of contacts is rapidly pushed Magnetically into a 12 plates arc chamber where it is broken down effectively & cooled. Trip Free Mechanism 1. Trip free Mechanism ensure tripping of MCB even if the knob is kept in 'ON' position. Special Silver Alloy Contacts 1. The contacts are made out of special silver alloy inlaid strips which gives low contact resistance resulting in low voltage drop & hence very low power consumption and temperature rise. These contacts have very excellent anti weld properties. Thermal Protection 1. Small overloads are detected by fine calibrated Bimetal which deflects if the current is greater than the rated current and hence tripping the MCB. Dual Termination 1.
