The Lead Smelting Mini Blast Furnace, also known as (Mandir Bhati) or (Shahi Bhati) in India, works on the principle of just like a blast furnace. These battery plates are now manually charged into the furnace as raw material and soft coke is used to burn the furnace and to raise the required temperature for melting of lead, Soft coke also act like a reducing agent for the easily extraction of lead out of battery plates, as the temperature of the furnace reaches at the required stage, the molten lead starts flowing from the furnace bottom and is collected into a small pit. From the Pit manually ingots are casted into moulds, an average of up to 20 to 25 Kgs. Lead bearing slag is produced as a by-product.
