Y-type Strainer
Y-Strainers are typically used in applications where the amount of solids to be removed is small, and where frequent clean-out is not required. They are most often installed in gaseous services such as steam, air, nitrogen, natural gas, etc. The compact, cylindrical shape of the Y-strainer is very strong and can readily accommodate the high pressures that are common in this type of service A Y-strainer has the advantage of being able to be installed in either a horizontal or vertical position. However, in both cases, the screening element or "leg" must be on the "downside" of the strainer body so the entrapped solids can be properly collected and held for disposal. PSN Energy Systems's designed Strainers are furnished with high quality stainless steel screens that are carefully fabricated to fit the strainer body perfectly. This, coupled with the precision machined screen seat on the body of the strainer, protects against any bypass.Features• Heavy Duty Construction • Compact design • Bolted or threaded covers • Standard stainless steel screens • Suitable for liquid, gas or steam • Synthetic fibre gaskets options • Monel screens • Perforated stainless steel screens – 1/32" to ½" • 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 150, 200, 325 and 400 mesh stainless steel screens.
...morePressure Vessels
A pressure vessel is a container designed to hold gases or liquids at a pressure substantially different from the ambient pressure. The pressure differential is dangerous, and fatal accidents have occurred in the history of pressure vessel development and operation. Consequently, pressure vessel design, manufacture, and operation are regulated by engineering authorities backed by legislation. For these reasons, the definition of a pressure vessel varies from country to country, but involves parameters such as maximum safe operating pressure and temperature, and are engineered with a safety factor, corrosion allowance, minimum design temperature (for brittle fracture), and involve nondestructive testing, such as ultrasonic testing, radiography, and pressure tests, usually involving water, also known as a hydrotest, but could be pneumatically tested involving air or another gas. The preferred test is hydrostatic testing because it's a much safer method of testing as it releases much less energy if fracture were to occur (water does not rapidly increase its volume while rapid depressurization occurs, unlike gases like air, i.e. gasses fail explosively). In the United States, as with many other countries, it is the law that vessels over a certain size and pressure (15 PSIg) be built to Code, in the United States that Code is the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), these vessels also require an Authorized Inspector to sign off on every new vessel constructed and each vessel has a nameplate with pertinent information about the vessel such as maximum allowable working pressure, maximum temperature, minimum design metal temperature, what company manufactured it, the date, it's registration number (through the National Board), and ASME's official stamp for pressure vessels (U-stamp), making the vessel traceable and officially an ASME Code vessel.
...morePig Handling Systems
Pig Launchers and Receivers Pigging is an integral part of the maintenance regime for pipelines. Pipelines are pigged for several reasons. If water is present in the line, it must be removed periodically in order to minimize corrosion. Water will accumulate at low points in the pipeline and as a result will be corrosion hot spots. In addition to corrosion prevention, a proper pigging regiment can help keep the process facility operating at the specified design parameters. By regular pipeline's pigging, blockages in the pipeline can be removed and thus reduce pressure drops in the pipeline. Additionally, periodic pigging can also impact the sizing of the slug catcher allowing for a more optimized design.
...moreMolecular Sieve Dehydration Unit
Molecular Sieve Dehydration Units work on the principle of adsorption. Molecular Sieve Dehydration units typically have higher initial capital investments than comparable glycol units but also are able to achieve very low dew points which are required for cryogenic plants. Additionally, Molecular Sieve Units can also handle large flow variations as well as higher inlet gas temperatures.Process DescriptionTypically Molecular Sieve Units consist of the following equipment: • Inlet Pre-Filter Separators and Outlet Post Filter Separator • Adsorption Towers (Usually a minimum of two are used: one adsorbing and one regenerating) • Regeneration Gas Heater • Regeneration Gas Cooler • Regeneration Gas Cooler and Separator • Lot of Process Piping, Switching Valves and instrumentationBased on the client's preferences and the overall process schematic, there are several variations on the process flow. However, the basic principle of operations starts with the wet gas entering the adsorption tower at the top which contains the molecular sieve desiccant. The gas exist the bottom of the vessel dry. While one tower is adsorbing, the other tower is regenerating. For regeneration, gas is heated up to 550 ˚F and is sent to the tower in regeneration to extract the water from the molecular sieves. As the saturated gas leaves the top of the vessel, it is cooled in a condenser and then the condensed water is separated in separator. The two towers switch between adsorbing and regenerating usually on a fixed cycle depending on the process conditions and overall schematic.

...moreJib Crane
Jib crane is a type of crane where a horizontal member (Jib or Boom), supporting a moveable hoist, is fixed to a wall or to a floor-mounted pillar. Jib cranes are used in industrial premises and on military vehicles. The jib may swing through an arc, to give additional lateral movement, or be fixed. Similar cranes, often known simply as hoists, were fitted on the top floor of warehouse buildings to enable goods to be lifted to all floors.
...moreInstrument Gas Receiver Tank
Instrument Gas receivers are tanks used for compressed air storage and are recommended to be in all compressed air systems. Using air receivers of unsound or questionable construction can be very dangerous. Therefore, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has developed a code regarding the construction of unfired pressure vessels, which has been incorporated into many federal, state, and local laws. This particular code is ASME Code Section VIII Division 1. Air receivers should always meet or exceed this code in addition to any other state, municipal, or insurance codes that may apply.
...moreGas Scrubber
PSN Energy System's Gas Scrubber removes traces of liquid droplets from gas streams to protect downstream equipment from damage and failure. It is typically used upstream of gas treating equipment that contains dry desiccants or mechanical equipment such as compressors. It is also used downstream of equipment where liquids have condensed from the gas. The Gas Scrubber is designed to handle light liquid loads and does not take the place of a primary separator.
...moreFlow Tee
PSN Energy System's Flow Tee is designed to allow maximum fluid flow through a branch connection as a pipeline pig or sphere passes the opening. The Flow Tee is composed of an oversized extruded outlet tee with forged end pieces, and a slotted guide sleeve. The annulus of the tee is sized to ensure pressure does not drop during the pig passage, while the slotted guide sleeve allows for the maximum fluid flow while maintaining sufficient restrain for the sphere or pig. Flow Tees are designed as per ASME B31.4 for liquid application and as per ASME B31.8 for Gas Application or other applicable design codes. The materials of the tee and end pieces are selected to match the pipeline material. Flow Tees are available for any pipeline size with a full or reduced branch outlet.
...moreFlare Knock Out Drum
The flare knockout drum requires continuous, accurate level monitoring to keep liquids from reaching the flare and creating a potential fire hazard. In order to ensure safety by performing this critical measurement, a VEGAFLEX 81 guided wave radar tracks the total process level over the span of the knockout drum, as well as the vessel's interface level. The information is continuously reported to the operator for proper control. The VEGAFLEX 81 has no moving parts, reducing maintenance requirements. For level measurement in the boot of the flare knockout drum, a VEGAMAG 63 provides remote reporting and local visualization. The accuracy of the measurement provided by the VEGAMAG 63 helps the operator determine the liquid level in the drum, recovering water to be sent to the water treatment plant and keeping entrained liquid from reaching the flare. The small size of the VEGAMAG 63 allows it to easily fit within mounting constraints, even when space is limited.

...moreCondensate Storage Tank
Natural-gas condensate is a low-density mixture of hydrocarbon liquids that are present as gaseous components in the raw natural gas produced from many natural gas fields. It condenses out of the raw gas if the temperature is reduced to below the hydrocarbon dew point temperature of the raw gas. The natural gas condensate is also referred to as simply condensate, or gas condensate, or sometimes natural gasoline because it contains hydrocarbons within the gasoline boiling range. Raw natural gas may come from any one of three types of gas wells. Crude oil wells—Raw natural gas that comes from crude oil wells is called associated gas. This gas can exist separate from the crude oil in the underground formation, or dissolved in the crude oil. Condensate produced from oil wells is often referred to as lease condensate.
...moreClosed Blow Drum
In a refinery, each piece of equipment or vessel is tied in to a relief system. So if one piece of equipment were to fail or was overpressured and needed to relieve pressure, it would do so through the relief valves into a relief header, and ultimately into a blow-down drum. The chemicals and gases cannot be released to the atmosphere so they are released to a drum.
...moreBasket Strainer
Basket Strainers are generally used where high flow capacity is required. The basket Strainer is serviced by removing the cover, which yields access to the basket. Basket Strainers are also available in a duplex style which consists of two parallel basket Strainers and diverting valves, which permit diversion of the flow through one of the Strainer elements while the other element is being serviced-an essential feature where flow cannot be interrupted. They are commonly used for liquid service applications.
...moreBarred Tee
A barred tee is a tee or any fitting with a branch used in pipelines that is pigged and has a restriction bar welded internally preventing the pig from travelling down a branch connection. The bars are installed so they are flush with the inside diameter of the pipeline to keep the pig from hanging up when it passes through. Bars are placed on the internal side of a tee or really any branch connection big enough to sidetrack a pig while travelling down a pipeline.
