The pure spars are albite (NaAlSi3O8), orthoclase or microcline(KAlSi3O8) and anorthite(CaAlSi3O8). The soda feldspars are used in glasses and glazes, the high potash feldspars in whiteware bodies. Potash feldspar enable the broadest firing range and the best stability of the body against deformation during firing.
