The feed sweet water is obtained from the fat splitting plant. The SW received in off-site tanks is a clear liquid and it contains some fatty matter. The facility provided for treatment is capable of employing two steps of treatment. Vertical cylindrical vessels with conical bottoms are provided for treatment purpose. Various kinds of treatment can be utilized. However, the treatment is employed mainly for removal of fatty matter. Sweet water concentration plant: SW Concentration Plant is essentially multiple effect evaporation system operating under vacuum. The vacuum system is a package unit based on steam jet ejector. Thermocompressor is employed for energy efficiency. Each effect consists of an evaporator (heat exchanger), vaporization chamber and, a droplet separator. The concentrated glycerine (crude glycerine) is transferred to battery limit under temperature control.

A Typical two-bed DM Plant consists of two MS Rubber lined Pressure vessels connected in series along with its internal fittings. The first unit consists of high capacity strongly acidic cation exchange resin, which converts positive ions of salt and replaces them with hydrogen ions to form respective acids, which are absorbed in next vessel by strongly basic anion exchange resin. The water obtained by this process shows conductivity less than 20 µ S / cm at 25 Deg C and total dissolved solids less than 10 ppm. Further high purity water can be achieved by Mixed Bed Deionisers, which are designed to produce high purity treated water. They can be used as polishing units after two bed DM Plant to obtain high purity water. Mixed Bed Deionisers are single column units, filled with strongly acidic cation and strongly basic anion exchange resins mixed together.

Glycerine is a ubiquitous substance that is widely found in nature and has a broad range of uses ranging from Cosmetics to Food Products. Plants executed by Mectech produce Glycerol by the following means — the Transesterification of Methyl Esters, from Fats Splitting and by Saponification which is used to produce soap. The Glycerine / Sweet Water purification and evaporation allows maximum recovery and pre-treatment before evaporation to produce Crude Glycerine. The pre-treated sweet water is concentrated in Triple Effect or Quadruple Effect Evaporation systems under vacuum. The use of multiple effects reduces the requirement of steam.
