HSIL is the result of one man’s mission to revolutionize the sanitary ware market in India. In 1960, Mr. Rajendra K. Somany, in collaboration with Twyfords Ltd. of UK, established Hindustan Twyfords. Backed by innovative products, Hindustan Twyfords was the first company to introduce vitreous china ceramics in India. Keeping in mind the need to change the sanitation conditions in the country, his vision and goal found perfect harmony with his desire to do something for the social welfare of the nation as well. With this thought, enormous encouragement given by his family and with technical support provided by Twyfords, Mr. Somany founded the Bahadurgarh plant which commenced its production in 1962.

Hindustan Twyfords Ltd, was renamed to Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Limited (HSIL) in 1969. HSIL Limited, over the last 57 years, transformed the way the Indian sanitaryware market was operating.
In 1981, HSIL acquired Associated Glass Industries Limited (AGI), and forayed into the glass bottle and glass products manufacturing sector.
As a progression, in 2011, PET bottles added to its portfolio with acquisition of Garden Polymers Private Limited (GPPL) under its umbrella.
In 2007 HSIL Limited expanded its business portfolio further explored the Retail industry with the launch of “EVOK” a chain of large format retail stores, offering home interiors & decor merchandise. With every passing year the number of EVOK stores is expanding to reach the consumers all across the country.
HSIL expanded their offering to the home consumers with Consumer Products Business division, HSIL first introduced an array of kitchen appliances category under the brand “Hindware Kitchen Ensemble” further, expanded this consumer products portfolio, with water heater category in association with “Groupe Atlantic” of France. Hindware-Atlantic water heaters were introduced into the Indian market. Enthused by the consumers appreciation and acceptance, HSIL entered into Air-coolers category with the brand- “Hindware Snowcrest”.
HSIL endeavored into modern air and water purifying solutions with the brand name ‘Moonbow’ offering a range of exceptionally well-designed air & water purifiers.
