Canecraft & Allied Industries was founded by Naveen Sood when he was at the age of 22 in the year 1993.He was inspired by his father Shri Rajendra Kumar Sood and his father's friend Shri Anil Baruah in this venture.The company was registered as Tiny unit under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce,Government of Assam in 1993.The enterprise that started with selling of produced items in the city.Today having a factory and a showroom at Christianbasti, G.S.Road, in Guwahati.
As a lover of Nature,young entrepreneur Naveen aimed at producing items of house hold utility with non Timber forest produces and generated employment avenues for artisans of the region.Naveen does not belive in the theory of 'art for the arts sake'.Accodingly to him a work of art has to have an utilatarian Value.
Artisans comprising of around 20 families work in the factory to give shape to various items.The enterprise produces various items made of Cane and bamboo right from sofa to hairpin.These apart he produces items made of terracotta,waterhyacinth,jute,eri and muga yarn.
Naveen, who earlier participated in exhibitions across the country, today exports his produces to other states and abroad as well.
