The objective of the milling process is to provide complete separation of component parts of the steeped corn kernels. After steeping, the grains are coarsely ground of pulp with water in coarse grinding attrition mill in preparation for de-germination. Grinder has one stationary and one rotating disc. The gap between the plates can be adjusted to give the most germs free with minimum breakage with quick release spring mechanism for easy retraction attached with rotational shaft to prevent accidental damage to grinding plate due to any metallic foreign particles.

Grinding is done by heavy impact and friction. Sample is kept in the annular space between the bowl, ring and the hammer. A cover is kept on the top of the bowl then the bowl is clamped on vibratory platform and subjected to heavy vibrations. The vibratory platform imparts the kinetic energy to the ring and the hammer. Most suitable for 'XRF' sample preparation.
