Manual operation of maintaining the employee log is a mundane task prone to human errors. This project “Employee log system using PC and RFID” is the best solution for this problem. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Card Readers provide a low-cost solution to read passive RFID transponder tags up to 2 inches away. The RFID Card Readers can be used in a wide variety of hobbyist and commercial applications, including access control, automatic identification, robotics navigation, inventory tracking, payment systems, and car immobilization. The RFID card reader read the RFID tag in range and outputs unique identification code of the tag at baud rate of 9600. The data from RFID reader can be interfaced to be read by microcontroller or PC. The project is designed in such a way that the controller will be interfaced to the RFID reader through a line driver IC max232 for serial communication. On the other hand, the controller will also be interfaced to the PC serially. Serial communication is often used either to control or to receive data from an embedded microprocessor. Serial communication is a form of I/O in which the bits of a byte being transferred appear one after the other in a timed sequence on a single wire. Each employee will be sanctioned with a unique RFID card. Whenever an RFID card is swiped over the Reader, it gets the card information and sends to the microcontroller serially. So the controller receives the data and transmits it to the PC, as per the code logic. C# application in PC always interact with serial port and it maintain the data base along with corresponding card details. So based on the received data the application can update the employee/student log. As per the design of the application , we can check the employee logs on the required dates at any time. This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation.
