The project is aimed to design a system using which we can send the messages to the mobile by using PC and a GSM modem, without internet connection to the PC. GSM Modem can accept any GSM network operator SIM card and act just like a mobile phone with its own unique phone number. Advantage of using this modem will be that you can use its RS232 port to communicate and develop embedded applications. Applications like SMS Control, data transfer, remote control and logging can be developed easily. The modem can either be connected to PC serial port directly or to any microcontroller. The project is designed in such a way that the controller will be interfaced to the PC, as well as to the GSM modem through a line driver IC max232 for serial communication. Serial communication is often used either to control or to receive data from an embedded microprocessor. Serial communication is a form of I/O in which the bits of a byte being transferred appear one after the other in a timed sequence on a single wire. The front end application will be developed on C# .NET platform for the visual effects so that the application can be easily accessed. The application will be designed in such a way that it contains a text box in which we can enter the required text and as the application always interact with the serial port it sends that text to the PC serially and then the controller sends it to the GSM modem in an SMS format as per the code logic. So that the mobile with the preprogrammed number will receive that particular message through GSM modem. This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation.
