The term cable can be defined as "an encased group of insulated wires armoured with/without strips". A cable is a fairly inflexible (although can be bent slightly) set of wires used to supply the electricity to certain points in our home. Our meter box is supplied through a cable and our lights are fed through cables. A cable can carry many wires depending on the job it needs to do. P.V.C. Insulated Wires:A Flexible cable is used to carry electricity from a power point to an appliance. Most appliances are portable so the cable supplying them, should twist or bend, needs to become straight again with the minimum effort. Domestic wires are made up of Conductor and Insulation. The conductor of the wire manufactured by copper of high conductivity. As a result the current losses are less leading to low incidence of accidents occurring due to overheating of wire. The insulating material is of high quality PVC having high thermal stability and tensile strength, thereby increasing the life of wires.    Flexible leads are made from several strands of wire. Eample:14/0.3 is 14 strands of wire each 0.3 mm in diameter. Applications:Typical application of electrical domestic wires includes Housing & Office Complex, Shopping malls, Hospitals, Hotels, Cinemas, Agriculture & Industries. Advantage:High conductivity copper passes more current thereby lowering the electricity bill 

This conductor consists of a solid or stranded steel core surrounded by strands of aluminum. The higher strength ACSR CONDUCTORS are used for river crossings, overhead ground wires, installations involving extra long spans etc.. against any given resistance of conductor, ACSR conductor may be manufactured for having a wide range of tensile strength as per requirement. Advantages: 1.   High tensile strength.  2.   Light weight with longer spans as well as with lesser supports.  3.   Due to the greater diameter of ACSR CONDUCTORS a much higher corona limit can be obtained causing big advantages on high as well as extra high voltage overhead lines.
