The simplest magnet system is one where a sample insert has a small 6T magnet bolted at the bottom. Such an insert would have an integral variable temperature insert with sample space of 25 mm. These inserts are very effective in performing transport studies on nano size specimens and can be a useful tool to demonstrate the Quantum Hall Effect for educational purposes or for prescreening samples before they are tested at facilities that are not easily accessible.  

Based on heat load and size of the superconducting magnet either a dry conduction cooled or ReCon TM style geometry is recommended. ReCon TM style magnet systems use cooling power of a closed cycle 4K cryocooler to recondense gaseous helium back into the liquid Dewar. The evaporating gas is liquefied in a thermodynamically effective manner and the cryocooler is strategically located in the Dewar. The first stage of the cryocooler is used to cool the shields of the Dewar thereby eliminating the need for any liquid Nitrogen. ReConTM magnet systems offer combined benefits of traditional LHe systems with near zero helium boil-off. These style systems are ideally suited for retrofitting existing magnets and sample inserts into a re-engineered Dewar with a suitable gas handling system. In order to minimize liquid helium loss, the Model 135 automatically energizes the liquid helium level sensor at user programmable time intervals and monitors the normal (resistive) zone as it progresses from the top of the sensor toward the liquid surface. As soon as the normal zone reaches the liquid surface, the level reading is saved and the current in the sensor is turned off until the next sample interval occurs. An LED sensor current indicator is illuminated during each sample. Sample intervals are user programmable from the front panel and can be set between "0.0" (continuous reading) to "600.0" minutes or hours. A manual update switch provided on the front panel can also be set to obtain continuous readings during a helium transfer period or to manually force an immediate measurement.

capacitance-based level sensing. Fill control and alarm functions are provided, front panel programmable from 0 to 100 percent of the active sensing length. Two independent control band setpoints, "A" and "B", activate a power receptacle on the rear panel. When the liquid level drops below the "B" setpoint, the power receptacle is energized and remains energized until the liquid level rises to the "A" setpoint. The Model 186 also provides a fail-safe timer feature that automatically de-energizes the power receptacle once a user programmed maximum time interval of up to 600 minutes is reached. "High" and "Low" alarm setpoints to activate front panel LED warning indicators and rear panel relay outputs (for remote alarming) in the event of an overfill or liquid loss condition. The "Low" level alarm also energizes an audible warning which can be silenced from the front panel. The Model 186 is ideal for unattended systems where automated fill is required.

These sealed systems are designed for industrial customers and researchers alike who wants a compact Laser that’s ultra-rugged and stable on performance.   The Ultra Laser is a lamp pumped Nd: YAG laser featuring a very high degree of ruggedization not found in typical scientific Lasers. The Ultra design was vibration tested and each Laser is temperature cycled overnight and tested again before shipping to ensure Lasers alignment stability. Bottom loading magnet systems are typically used when a small diameter (e.g., 8 inches or less), top-loading sample insert is to be used and the magnet is relatively large. The magnet is installed from the bottom of the dewar through a series of bolted flanges and installed on the bottom of liquid helium reservoir. This allows the dewar neck diameter to be small, thus minimizing the liquid helium consumption. Bottom loading systems can be used with solenoids, split coils, gradient coils, etc.
