The Lead oxide is heated and maintained at 450-500 degree Celsius till the conversion from Pb0 to Pb304 is complete. Ideally this conversion takes 20 -24 hrs. The production rate depends on the free lead in the input lead oxide. Lower the free lead in input oxide, faster will be the Red Lead Batches. Gas or Oil fired burner is used to maintain the temperature of the Furnace. Thermocouples record the temperature inside the furnace , thus putting off the burners when not needed and hence saving energy. Litharge Furnaces
Litharge Furnace was developed by a leading independent lead oxide manufacturer based in the MAXISULAB TECHNOLOGIES Jalandhar, Punjab. The furnace system is capable of economically producing Litharge suitable for use in batteries, stabilizers, glass, ceramics, and specialty chemicals. Production Capabilities Include – Powdered Litharge Agglomerated Litharge This is a continuous production furnace using leady oxide (12% – 25% Pb depending on the required Litharge quality) as feed material. During production, oxygen is introduced into the furnace reaction chamber, enabling Litharge to be produced with less than 0.05% metallic lead and also allowing high free metal feed material to be used. When the Litharge is discharged from the reaction chamber, it flows into a water cooled screw conveyor system to prevent the formation of Red Lead and then passes through a crusher to break up agglomerates if required. After being mechanically or pneumatically conveyed to a storage silo, the Litharge is milled to achieve the final product specification

Lead Ingots are melted in the Melting Pot. The Molten Lead in the Melting Pot is pumped on to the Cylinder casting Machine. The Lead cylinders are casted in the Cylinder casting machines at a rate higher than that of the oxidation process. These Lead cylinders are conveyed and stored in a Silo. The Silo feeds the required amount of Lead Cylinders into the Mill as and when required. The amount of Lead Cylinders being discharged from the Silo is adjustable from the PLC system. Lead Cylinders tumbling inside the Ball Mill drum create heat due to friction between them. This heat initiates the oxidation process. The oxidation process is also an exothermic reaction. This exothermic heat raises the temperature of the material which in tum accelerates the oxidation process. A draft of air through the Ball Mill drum gives oxygen for the oxidation process and also carries the Battery Oxide to the collection system. The Collection System includes a combination of cyclone and dust collector or just dust collector. Battery oxide is collected and conveyed to storage silos. The Silos storing Battery Oxide are purged with Nitrogen to keep the temperature of the Oxide in check. Process control Reaction temperature : Reaction temperature is monitored using thermocouples and is controlled by periodic water cooling. Load in the Ball Mill : The Load in the Ball Mill can be monitored by Load cells or by current consumption . According to the load in the mill, new material is fed automatically when the load reduces. System Draft : The System draft or air flow through the ball Mill is very precisely controlled and monitored. Te air flow volume is controlled by a motorized butterfly valve and te correspondin static pressure is monitored by pressure sensors. Batteries are loaded on battery feed conveyors and it passes through Acid Extraction/ Draining machine that is mounted on FEED CONVEYORS. Acid is automatically drained out from battery & acid is sent to its storage tank. Acid stored in a tank, the precipitated oxide slurry is taken out with the valve & the acid is sending for Recycling. (CONVEYORISED) Once Battery is cut and now only Plates with separator are there in Plastic container. There may be acid in the Battery Container still. Battery will drop in upside position, manually assisted. Container can be picked up and placed at a side or drop in Plastic Crusher. Battery Plates and Separator can be Transported to Plate Crushing Machine. Acid will drop in tank. Acid Proof Tank is in-built in the attachment. Lead Oxide Dust and small grid parts will precipitate. Acid can be pumped out, if connected to another tank. Lead Sludge can be charged in furnace.
