Ajara Ghansal Rice is that variety of paddy which is speciality of Ajara Taluka of Kolhapur District situated at the Western part of Maharashtra State. The cultivation of Ghansal rice in this part of the country is profitable. But still the local farmers are reluctant about this. The farming of this variety is profitable and the demand for this particular variety is also there throughout the country. Even this variety is also known at the international market for its features. The cost competitiveness and aromatic features have added to the glory of this variety. This paper tries to highlight the benefits of the farming of Ajara Ghansal Rice as well as it brings forward the challenges posed before the farmers to take this variety to explore the new markets.
