Because of this we do not use any di/dt reactors. Since the switching is independent of the remnant charge on the capacitor, we do not need any fast discharge resistors or reactors. Since switching in transients & pulses are totally absent, the capacitor life is enhanced several times. The entire system is saved from capacitor switching transients. When harmonics are present, the conventional formula PF=Cos Ǿ is not valid. In such cases PF= Cos Ǿ X Distortion Factor (DF depends on extent of harmonic pollution and is less than 1. Therefore we do not use Cos Ǿ sensing relays. Instead we use KVAR controller.
