Vibrations due to wind need to be "dampened" for overhead transmission lines. Stockbridge type vibration dampers are widely used to control these Aeolian vibrations to reduce conductor fatigue.

A spacer damper serves the dual purpose of providing proper spacing of subconductors and also providing damping effect from aeolin vibrations. This is for two (2) sub-conductors.

Rigid spacers keep the subconductors within a fixed spacing to prevent damage caused by clashing, twisting or entwining. This is for two (twin) sub-conductors.

Once the power generated has traveled over long distances via transmission lines, it reaches a sub-station where the high voltage is "transformed" to lower voltages for subsequent supply to people's homes.
