3,800 Per Piece
Kantha stitch which is an indigenous household craft, made by the rural women in Bolpur-Shantiniketan and remains as the most creative of all embroidery styles in this part of India. The later influence of Hinduism, in the making of Kanthas for religious ceremonies, pujas, weddings and births, gave the art its place as a vehicle of significant cultural meaning. The real value of Kantha embroidery lies in its fine craftsmanship and vignette of daily folk life motifs being a favourite of the embroiderers. Thus, our motive is not only to save a dying art, but also make room for a great economic activity for West Bengal women. Each bedcover takes weeks or sometimes even months to prepare, depending on the intricacy of the embroidered patterns. This in turn, determines the final price of a kantha bedcover.
