High purity zircon, fused AZS grains and stabilized Zirconia are among the inputs for a range of high performance Zircon (upto 67% ZrO2 content) and Zircon Mullite refractories. The entire range of bonded ZrO2 containing refractories have been indigenously developed and are distinguished by their excellent alkali resistance in regenerator and melter applications in glass plants. Blocks and tiles can also be supplied in these qualities.

Sillimanite bricks, These bricks are manufactured by the sawdust process using selected grades of china clay and kyanite for hot face as well as back up applications. Particularly notable is the HFK brick, which is one of the most economical insulations in its classification temperature. Maithan also manufactures high CCS insulation tiles, MCL HSI for glass melter bottom and can supply the same in any size.

Refractory cement, Maithan’s calcium aluminate range is a family of sophisticated hydraulic refractory binders manufactured at a dedicated production facility in India. These products are designed for use in high technology monolithic refractories for demanding applications. They are characterized by rapid hardening, superior corrosion resistance and excellent thermo-mechanical performance. Lumicem is a 45% alumina cement, ideally suitable for making conventional and insulating castables. It has a high CA content and fineness of 3000 blaine and upwards. This results in a refractory concrete with rapid hardening, high strength and abrasion resistance. Lumicem based monolithics are suitable for casting as well as gunning.

For the first time in India, Maithan supplied six-face ground, zero tolerance blocks for the melter bottom. These blocks can be manufactured in chamotte, sillimanite and zircon-mullite qualities, pre-assembled and individually marked before dispatch. Magnesite bricks, This range of fired and chemically bonded magnesite bricks is suitable for use in backup applications of EAF, LD converter, steel ladle and can be supplied with or without steel clad. With the increased focus on fuel efficiency in glassmaking and increase in furnace life necessitated by economy, the use of high purity magnesite bricks in glass regenerator has become universal. Maithan offers the MGIS range of low iron high purity Magnesite bricks manufactured with high grade Sea water and sintered natural magnesia. These refractories are distinguished by their high density and resistance to alkali, sulphur, silica carry over and fume attack. Solutions based on this range can be tailor made depending on the cost economics, capacity and life expectancy of a glass furnace.

Magnesia carbon brick, The SPECIAL MAG CARBON series of resin bonded magnesia carbon bricks is a blend of high crystal size seawater magnesia, fused magnesia and high purity graphite flakes. These are suitable for use in the vulnerable areas of EOF, EAFEBT, VADLRFAOD. These products outperform others due to their excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance, resistance to spalling and high hot strength.

Hot face insulation bricks, This range of bricks has been entirely developed through indigenous research and is formed by the vibro-casting method. Vibro-casting ensures extremely low thermal conductivity and proportionately high strength. These bricks are engineered for cold face as well as hot face applications and can withstand temperatures of upto 1500°C. Tailor made.

The MAC CRETE range of conventional castables is suitable for moderate and high heat duty applications. These are calcium aluminate bonded refractory concrete for application in temperatures upto 1400° c. These can be either vibration cast or poured. The grading of these products is formulated such that they can be gunned if required. High alumina High purity Conventional Castables, The MACHEAT range of high alumina conventional castables is made with aluminus aggregate and high purity high alumina refractory cement. These are suitable for use in critical applications upto 1800° c. They exhibit high volume stability, good thermal shock resistance and excellent hot strength. These castables are installed by both vibration and hand placement. Low Cement Castables The MACVIB range of low cement castables are available in 45% to 90% Al2O3 content. They are made with aluminus and mullite aggregates and high purity high alumina cement. These are suitable for extreme service conditions and have application temperatures upto 1800° c. These products are distinguished by their high volume stability, low porosity, better corrosion and erosion resistance, good thermal shock resistance and excellent hot strength. Installation of these castables is by vibration only.

Lumicem is a High Alumina Refractory Binder that sets hydraulically and with refractory aggregates, provides a superior refractory castable.Lumicem contains more than 45% Alumina and exibits excellent setting behaviour.Comparatively lower level of iron makes Lumicem a binder with refractoriness of over 1380°C. The castable made using Lumicem develops high crushing strength and abrasion resistance.Lumicem is equivalent to Calandum, Cement Fondu, Luminite, Istra and other Alumina refractory binders available in the market internationally.
