Kapok (Scientific Name: Ceibapentandra), also known as Java cotton, Java Kapok, and Silk Cottonis a well-known substitute of cotton in the fibre industry. One of the best known natural fibres known to humanity, it is found in two species – Kapok (Genus: Ceiba) and Indian Kapok (Genus: Bombax; Indian name: Shemal). The Indian kapok is a substitute of the international species only. In comparison to cotton, the kapok fibres are less tensile and have lesser water retention capacity. The name ‘Kapok’ is used both as the tree name and the fibre name. The tree bears flowers having banana like seedpods containing hair like fibres called Kapok fibres. This tree is a native to South America and Indonesia (Java). Naturally growing in the tropical rainforests, it is commercially cultivated in kapok plantations in Asia, Malaysia, and South America. They are cultivated for seedpods containing a fluffy yellowish fibre, which has a commercial viability. The kapok fibre is very light and buoyant in nature.  Varieties There are two varieties of Kapok plant found worldwide; one is the Indonesian Kapok and the other is Indian Kapok. Unlike the Indonesian Kapok, the Indian Kapok (also called floss) is a native of India only. It shares a few properties of the Java cotton type but it more brownish in colour. Apart from its commercial production, it is also purposefully planted along park boundaries because of its vibrant red coloured flowers, which bloom during the months on May and April and add to the scenic beauty of the surroundings.   The kapok fiber importer in India We are a trusted name in importers of kapok in India. Grown under suitable climate in plain alluvial soil and standing water, our Raw Jute Fiber is well developed. Made from high grade jute, our Raw Jute Fiber is of optimum quality. Product Information : Jute is one of the most affordable natural fibers and is second only to cotton in amount produced and variety of uses of vegetable fibers. Jute fibers are composed primarily of the plant materials cellulose (major component of plant fiber) and lignin (major components of wood fiber). It is thus a lingo-cellulosic fiber that is partially a textile fiber and partially wood. It falls into the best fiber category (fiber collected from bast or skin of the plant) along with kenaf, industrial hemp, flax (linen), ramie, etc. The industrial term for jute fiber is raw jute. The fibers are off-white to brown, and 1–4 meters (3–12 feet) long.
