...moreWATER LEVEL METERS
Ground water level monitoring is gaining importance as we are learning to value our precious supply of fresh water. With only 3% of all water on the planet being non saline and with less than 40% of the same being available to us various agencies regularly monitor the availability and usage of this most precious resource. Most often we tap into the reserves held by our soil in permeable layers, through borewells. This is only .8% of globally available water. Agriculture takes up 80% of the water we require. This makes it even more important that we conserve and judiciously use the same. Ground water levels may be monitored with analog or electronic devices.
...moreVAPOR SORPTION ANALYZER
The Vapor Sorption Analyzer (VSA) brings click-and-read efficiency to soil water characteristic curves (SWCC). In 24 to 48 hours, the VSA generates curves with up to 200 data points (water potential vs. water content) for both adsorption and desorption. The VSA works in the dry (-10 to -475 MPa) range. You can create automated soil water characteristic curves and generate all the correlations with clay activity, surface area, and swelling potential. With the new static feature, you can hold humidity constant and look at the way soil takes up water into its crystal structure (2:1 clays) and monitor water content change over time.
...moreTime-domain reflectometer
Trase utilizes the principle of TDR in order to convert the travel time of a high frequency, electromagnetic pulse into volumetric water content. In practice Trase generates a fast-rise pulse and sends it at the speed of light down a transmission line consisting of two parallel Waveguides that are inserted or buried in the soil. The velocity of propagation of the high frequency, broad band 3GHz wave in soil is determined primarily by the water content. The wave is reflected from the open ends of the Waveguides and returns along the original path. By microprocessor, the travel time of the wave is used to directly calculate the dielectric constant of the surrounding medium. THE WORLD'S MOST VERSATILE TDR INSTRUMENT - TRASE Trase is the only self-contained TDR instrument capable of investigating and monitoring not only soils, but a wide variety of other materials as well. It is fully field portable, and when you need to leave it at a remote site for several days or weeks, it can be accessed from home or office. On site, Trase quickly measures the dielectric and subsequent moisture properties of soil, seeds, or other materials at a specific location, or, with the optional Trase Multiplexer, at up to 256 locations. Trase automatically logs your sensors at intervals ranging from once a minute to once a day. Using diverse waveguide configurations and associated conversion tables, Trase rapidly measures new or unusual materials.

...moreSoil Test Kits
The (agricultural) soil test kits offer simplified methods for determination of available nutrients found in agricultural soils. A series of rapid, accurate chemical tests use standardized reagents to produce color reactions measured against laminated color charts. Colorimetric test methods are used for most test factors. Some tests are based on turbidity measurements. A single extraction procedure (We recommend our water samplers for obtaining soil water samples from root zones) provides the liquid soil extract for all the nutrient tests. Soil pH is determined colorimetrically, covering the range of pH 3.8 to 9.6. Complete reagent refill packages are available for each outfit. All kits outfits are furnished in lightweight carrying cases with components securely mounted.

The soil column cylinder auger has been developed to take undisturbed soil samples. This allows a fast insight in the build-up of the soil profile, the possibilities for a root system, etc. The more insight in these matters, the more effective fertilization and treatment of the soil can be done. Applying this system it is possible to take undisturbed samples with a length of 100 cm and a diameter of 90 mm, without digging a profile pit. The soil column cylinder auger is hammered into the soil applying a gasoline driven mechanical hammer (on special request an electrical driven hammer). The cylinder has a removable side cover, among other things, for checking andor for sub-sampling of the soil column.

...moreHYPROP modular lab instrument
HYPROP is a modular lab instrument that generates a moisture characteristic curve and determines the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of soil samples in standard 250 ml soil sampling rings. After setup, the system generates the moisture characteristic while running unattended. Two precision mini-tensiometers measure water potential at different levels within the sample while the sample rests on a precision laboratory scale (2000 gram range; 0.01 gram resolution). As the sample dries, changes in water potential are correlated to changes in moisture content using the WindSchindler evaporation method. Results are verified and values for dry range and saturation are calculated according to a selected model (i.e., van GenuchtenMualem, Bimodal van GenuchtenMualem, or Brooks and Corey.) Model parameters can be selected before, during, or after the measurement procedure
...moreGuelph constant head Permeameter
The Guelph permeameter is a ‘constant head’ permeameter that operates in accordance with the principle of the Mariotte bottle. After boring a hole the Guelph permeameter is placed. The water from the permeameter slowly flows into the auger hole and penetrates into the soil. At a certain moment a saturated ‘bulb’ is formed and the out-flow of water from the storage cylinder reaches a constant value (that is measured). These measured data together with the diameter of the auger hole and the level of the water in the auger hole, are used to determine the (saturated) hydraulic conductivity of the soil. For shallow water tables, we recommend the Hydraulic conductivity test kit.
