Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that uses a semi permeable membrane to separate ions, unwanted molecules and larger particles from drinking water. Water is forced through these membranes with the use of pressure and force (typically from a pumping system), the usual process of osmosis is reversed via feed water being pushed through the semi-permeable membranes.
