The plant can be up to 18 mtr high. Kokam fruits are purple in colour and spherical in shape. The fruits consist 5-8 seeds compressed in an acid pulp. Origin and Distribution: It is in oriental plant that is native to Southern India, and mainly found in the tropical rain forest of Western Ghats of Ratnagiri, Konkan, Coorg and Wynadu region. Kokam also grows in the evergreen forests of Assam, Khasi, Jantia Hills, West Bengal and Gujarat.
