It is acidic in nature. elementry analysis shows that it contain carbon 56.9%, hydrozen 8.26% oxygen 34.94%. when hydrolised with 3% sulphuric acid or alcohlic solution of hcl, saponin give cristallised sapogenin. the melting point of sapogenin is 316â° to 319â°c.
