Some marbles and other stone have low flexural strength and may not be suitable for installation over wood floors. During cold weather, protect finished work from traffic until fully cured. Actual field performance will depend on installation methods and site conditions.Installation : Surface Preparation : All surfaces should be between 40°F (14°C) and 90°F (32°C) and structurally sound, clean and free of all dirt, oil, grease, paint, concrete sealers or curing compounds. Rough or uneven concrete surfaces should be made smooth with Antique Platinum Adhesive Latex Portland Cement Underlayment to provide a wood float (or better) finish. Dry, dusty concrete slabs or masonry should be dampened and excess water swept off. Installation may be made on a damp surface. Concrete slabs must be plumb and true to within 1/4" (6 mm) in 10 ft (3 m).Note : Antique Platinum Adhesive does not require a minimum cure time for concrete slabs. Expansion joints shall be provided through the tile work from all construction or expansion joints in the substrate. Follow ANSI specification A108.01-3.7 “Requirements for Movement Joints: Preparations by Other Trades” or TCNA detail EJ-171 “Movement Joints—Vertical & Horizontal”. Do not cover expansion joints with mortar. Installer must verify that deflection under all live, dead and impact L/360 for ceramic tile and brick or L/480 for stone installations where L=span length. Mixing : Place clean, potable water into a clean pail. Add Antique Platinum Adhesive. Use approximately 5-5.5 litres of water for 20kg of powder. Mix by hand or with a slow speed mixer to a smooth, trowelable consistency. Allow mortar to slake for 5–10 minutes. Remix with out adding any more water or powder. During use, stir occasionally to keep mix fluffy. Do Not temper with water.Application : Apply Antique Platinum Adhesive to the substrate with the flat side of the trowel, pressing firmly to work into surface. Comb on additional adhesive with the notched side. Note : Use proper sized notched trowel to ensure full bedding of the tile. Spread as much mortar as can becovered with tile in 15–20 minutes. Back butter large tiles >8" x 8" (>200 mm x 200 mm) to provide full bedding and firm support. Place tiles into wet, sticky mortar and beat in using a beating block and rubber mallet to embed tile and adjust level. Check mortar for complete coverage by periodically removing a tile and inspecting bedding mortar transfer onto back of tile. If mortar is skinned over (not sticky), remove and replace with fresh mortar.Grouting : Grout the installation after a minimum of 24 hours curing time at 70oF (21oC). Grout with Antique TG Silver Sanded Grout or Antique TG Golden Unsanded Grout mixed & Antique Platinum Grout Admix Plus. For maximum stain resistance use Antique Platinum Adhesive Stain free Grout for Floor N’ Wall.Maintenance : Antique Platinum Adhesive grouts require routine cleaning with a neutral pH soap and water. Antique Adhesive Silver (Grey) is composed of ordinary portland cement properly selected & graded aggregates, polymer, rheology modifier & additives. It is used for fixing of tiles internally & externally floors because it gives excellent bond on cementitious surfaces like, concrete, plaster, etc. It forms a waterproof barrier between two surfaces and has excellent ‘grab’ properties of tiles to the substrate. SURFACE PREPARATION * The surface should be sound, clean, and free from dirt, oil or grease before Antique Adhesive Silver (Grey) is applied. * Substrate should be in Saturated Surface Dry (SSD) condition before application of adhesive. * Substrates should be in plumb before application of adhesive 2. MIXING * Mix 20 kg of Antique Adhesive Silver (Grey) with 5 to 5.5 liters of water. * Mix to a uniform lump-free consistency using a forced action mixer. * Keep it for approximately 5 minutes to fatten it. * Hand mixing is recommended for small quantities only. * Mix as much quantity as can be consumed in 60 min. 3. APPLICATION Apply Antique Adhesive Silver (Grey) paste on substrate with plain side of notch trowel. Press paste firmly to work into substrate. * Comb with notch trowel with notched side, notch trowel to be selected as per required bed thickness. * Spread as much adhesive paste as can be tiled within 15 minutes. * Start placing/fixing of tiles & tap using beating block or rubber mallet. * For large format tiles & stone provide back butter for 100 % coverage & firm bonding. * Periodically remove a tile to check transfer of material on tile. Also check spread of adhesive, if not proper and if becomes non-sticky then scrap it & apply paste again.. 4. GROUTING * Grouting should preferably be carried out at least 24 hours after the completion of tiling * For grout joints upto 3mm wide use Antique Adhesive Silver (Grey) * For grout joints above 3mm wide use RTM Wide. * After grouting clean and polish tiles with a damp sponge or cloth 5. CLEANING * Clean the tools & equipments with potable water immediately after use. Precautions & Limitations * Always add powder to liquid and not liquid to powder. * While working in temperature more than 35OC ( 95OF ) always dampen the substrate & finish faster. * Tiling should not be done when surface temperature is below 4OC. * Antique Adhesive Silver (Grey) should not be used on painted , metal surfaces, ply & gypsum boards.
