Positioning in the Plant : The chilling Tank along with chilling unit is installed after the cascade cooler.   Primary Function : It is one of the important stages of the process where moisture & CO2 is separated partly from the air before entering the Molecular Sieve Battery. The air from the cascade cooler passes through the chilling tank, which contains chilled water at a temperature of 60C to 100C. This water is chilled by a Chilling unit. In the chilling tank the moisture entrapped in the air further gets condensed and is separated out as moisture. It is theoretically possible to lower the condensing temperature to a 35°C level from 40°C for a wet bulb temperature of 28°C, by replacing a S & T condenser. Any lowering of condensing temperature results in decreasing of compressor power input.
