Any rice other than Basmati Rice is named as Non- Basmati rice. In the world it has been reported that there are 10000 varieties of rice and out of which the maximum number are in India. Non-Basmati rice comes in all kinds of different shapes and sizes. Some are long and slender, some are short and thick, some are like beads, and some may be round. None have the same characteristics as basmati rice. Some names of non-basmati rice are basis to the shapelike basmati rice and PR, 104 IR8, IR 64, Masuri, Kranti/Camolino Round Rice. A few listed varieties are IR34-64 long grain rice, IR8 medium grain polished rice, kranti camolino, P11 (Permal) super fine long grain rice, P47 (Permal) long grain rice, permal PR106 long grain rice, Swarna short grain white rice and Sona Masuri rice.

Indian onions have two crop cycles, first harvesting starts in November to January and the second harvesting from January to May. There are certain varieties in yellow onion which are suitable for export in European countries Tana F1, Arad-H, Suprex, Granex 55, HA 60 and Granex 429. Here we can see the varietal characteristics of commercially grown Onions: 1) Agrifound: The crop is global round in shape, big in size and dark red in colour.T.S.S. is 12- 2) Dark Red: 13 brix and storage quality is medium. 3) Agrifound: The crop is global round in shape, big in size and light red in colour.T.S.S. is 13- 4) Light Red: 14 brix and storage quality is good. 5) Agrifound: The crop is flattish round in shape, 2.5-3.5 cm in size and scarlet red in colour. 6) Rose: T.S.S. is 16-18 brix and storage quality is good. 7) Agrifound: The crop is 5-6 bulblets clump in shape, 2-2.5 cm in size and brick red in color. 8) Red: T.S.S. is 9-10 brix and storage quality is good. 9) Pusa Red: The crop is flattish round in shape and red in colour.Storage quality is very good.
