So strength is achieved by the addition of other elements to produce alloys. Further strengthening is possible by means which classify the alloys roughly into two categories, non-heat-treatable and heat treatable.Non-heat-treatable Alloys :The strength of alloys in this group depends upon the hardening effect of elements such as manganese, silicon, iron and magnesium. Since these alloys are work-hardenable, strength levels are controlled by various degrees of cold working, denoted by the ‘H’ series of tempers. Alloys containing appreciable amounts of magnesium when supplied in strain-hardened tempers are usually given a final elevated-temperature treatment called stabilizing to ensure stability of propertiesAluminium Alloy and Its Importance : Aluminium Sheet Aluminium Bar Aluminium Round bar Aluminium Flat bar Aluminium Square / Hex bar Aluminium Plate Aluminium Tread Plate / Chequered Plate Aluminium Square tube Aluminium Round tube Aluminium Rectangular tube Aluminium Angle Aluminium Channel Aluminium Tee sections Aluminium customized Profile Aluminium Forgings Aluminium Seamless Tube Aluminum Drawn Products Aluminium Architectural / Building profile

An aluminum alloy is a chemical composition where other elements are added to pure aluminum in order to enhance its properties, primarily to increase its strength. These other elements include iron, silicon, copper, magnesium, manganese and zinc at levels that combined may make up as much as 15 percent of the alloy by weight. Alloying requires the thorough mixing of aluminum with these other elements while the aluminum is in molten – liquid – form. Alloys are assigned a four-digit number, in which the first digit identifies a general class, or series, characterized by its main alloying elements.  Some alloys are strengthened by solution heat-treating and then quenching, or rapid cooling. Heat treating takes the solid, alloyed metal and heats it to a specific point. The alloy elements, called solute, are homogeneously distributed with the aluminum putting them in a solid solution. The metal is subsequently quenched, or rapidly cooled, which freezes the solute atoms in place. The solute atoms consequently combine into a finely distributed precipitate. This occurs at room temperature which is called natural aging or in a low temperature furnace operation which is called artificial aging.  Non-heat treated alloys are strengthened through cold-working. Cold working occurs during rolling or forging methods and is the action of “working” the metal to make it stronger. For example, when rolling aluminum down to thinner gauges, it gets stronger. This is because cold working builds up dislocations and vacancies in the structure, which then inhibits the movement of atoms relative to each other. This increases the strength of the metal. Alloying elements like magnesium intensify this effect, resulting in even higher strength.

Aluminium 5052 has excellent corrosion resistance power and atmosphere pressure sustainability. Aluminium 5052 is a medium to high strength alloy with a strength slightly higher than 5251 and a medium to high fatigue strength. Aluminium 5052 alloy is one of the higher strength, non-heat-treatable alloys, which contains magnesium as its major alloying element, with small amounts of chromium, silicon, iron, copper, manganese and zinc. When annealed, aluminium 5052 is stronger than the readily available 1100 and 3003 alloys, and stronger than most other 5xxx series alloys. Aluminium 5052 cannot be heat treated, but can be hot and cold worked. At mallinath metal, we ensure the quality of aluminium 5052 keeping in mind client requirement.

Aluminum Alloy 7050 is available in Plate, Extruded Wire, Rod and Bar.Aluminium alloy 7050 is an aerospace grade of aluminium combining high strength, stress corrosion cracking resistance and toughness. It is particularly suited for heavy plate applications (3" to 6" thick) due to it's lower quench sensitivity and retention of strength in thicker sections. Aluminium 7050 therefore is the premium choice aerospace aluminium for applications such as fuselage frames, bulkheads and wing skins.Aluminium 7050 plate is available in two tempers. T7651 (AMS 4201) combines the highest strength with good exfoliation corrosion resistance and average SCC resistance. T7451 (AMS 4050) provides better SCC resistance and excellent exfoliation resistance at slightly lower strength levels.Specifications AMS 4050: 7050-T7451 Plate AMS 4107:7050-T74 Die Forging AMS 4108:7050-T7452 Hand Forgings AMS 4201: 7050-T7651 Plate AMS 4333: 7050-T7452 Forgings AMS 4340: 7050-T76511 Extrusions AMS 4341: 7050-T73511 Extrusions AMS 4342: 7050-T74511 Extrusions

Aluminium Alloys have high strength together with excellent machining characteristics. Aluminium Alloy commonly used in many aerospace structural applications due to its high strength. Other applications include military vehicles, bridges, weapons manufacture and structural applications. 7075 is one of the highest strength aluminum alloys. It is not weld able and has less corrosion resistance than other aluminum alloys. The mechanical properties depend on the temper of the material. Commonly used in the bicycle industry, aircraft structures, and in rifles for the American military.   Specificationn : Available shapes: Sheet, Plate, Flate, Round, Pipe & Squares Grade - 1100, 2014, 2024, 5052, 5083, 6061, 6063, 6082, 7050 & 7075.

In the tempered condition, it is strong, and retains good formability due to excellent ductility. 5083 has high resistance to corrosion, and is used in marine applications. It has the low density and excellent thermal conductivity common to all aluminium alloys. Typical Applications require a weldable alloy of high to moderate strength, with good corrosion resistance. Marine applications, unfired welded pressure vessels, TV towers, drilling rigs, transportation equipment, armour plate. Description Aluminium 5083 is a strong magnesium-manganese-chromium-aluminium alloy. It can be hardened by cold work, but is not heat treatable to higher strength. It has good ductility for the strength level, better than most other 5000 series alloys (see figure). Corrosion Resistance Alloy 5083 has excellent resistance to general corrosion, and is used in marine applications. Resistance is excellent in aqueous solutions in the pH range 4 – 9. The corrosion resistance of aluminium alloys relies on a protective surface oxide film, which when damaged is readily repaired by the rapid reaction between aluminium and oxygen. However, the high reactivity of the base metal can give rapid corrosion if the film cannot be repaired, so aluminium alloys are not suitable for use with reducing media. Alloy 5083 can be anodised to improve the corrosion resistance by thickening the protective surface film. Alloy 5083 can be susceptible to exfoliation corrosion in severe applications. Material in the H116 temper is least susceptible, and passes the ASTM G66 Exfoliation Susceptibility Test (ASSET Test). AS 1734 suggests alloy 5083 should not be used above 65°C. Pressure Vessels AS1210 Pressure Vessels prequalifies alloy 5083 for pressure service for temperatures up to 65°C in the O, H112 & H321 tempers.
