Whether copper/aluminium/armoured /unarmoured/ fire resistantFR/or fire retardant zero halogen FRZH. The solid or stranded copper/ aluminium cables are insulated with cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) or pvc compound as per requirements of the IS for various cored cables. They are then laid up in cores as per required and bunched together by laying process with appropriate lay length. These laid up cores are then inner sheathed with wrapped pvc tape or extruded pvc sheathing. If required armouring is then done by GI round wires or strip wires wound on this inner sheath. These laid up cores duly inner sheathed and armoured are then inner sheathed with PVC/FR PVC/FRLS PVC or FRZH sheathing compound.

KEI also manufactures other types of cables as listed at the end of this catalogue. CROSS LINKED POLYETHYLENE (XLPE) XLPE means cross-linked polyethylene or vulcanized polyethylene. The basic material is low density polyethylene. Polyethylene is a thermoplastic material consisting of long chain of hydrocarbon molecules. At elevated temperatures these molecules tend to move relative to one another so that the material becomes increasingly deformable and will eventually melt at the temperature around 110oC. By means of process similar to the vulcanization of rubber the polyethylene molecules can be cross-linked. The process of cross-linking or vulcanization consists of producing chemical bonds at interval between the long molecular chain to give a "ladder" effect which prevents slippage between molecules. As a result of cross-linking the material becomes heat resistant and does not soften at higher temperatures. Further it has better resistance to stress cracking and good resistance to ageing in hot air. With the change of structure there is no adverse effect on electrical properties. Advantages of "KEI" XLPE CABLES Dielectric losses are very small. Higher current carrying capacity. Higher short circuit rating 250oC. as against 160oC for PVC. KEI XLPE can retain flexibility down upto – 40oC. Jointing and Termination is easy. Light in weight. They are not prone to fatigue damages due to vibrations or loading cycles. Has better resistance to most chemicals, oils, acids, etc. Can be installed along cable routes without elevation limitations.

PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) insulated Power Cables have proved integral to all distribution networks in low tension, fixed installation. They are also used as control cables for process and manufacturing industries, and in mining industries involving fixed installation. PVC Cables are suitable for continuous use between 30°C and 70°C and upto 85°C for Heat Resistant applications. PVC, as insulation and sheath compounds, has the following superior features :- Strong and made for easy handling Resistant to water, moisture, oils and chemicals PVC black compounds can resist ultraviolet degradation Specially formulated PVC is flame retardant and reduces emission of halogens and smoke We have a modern compounding plant for making PVC insulation and sheathing compounds, according to our own formulae and strict quality control. Further, raw materials meant for blending in the compounding plant are subject to comprehensive chemical, electrical and mechanical tests before acceptance. PVC Cables are manufactured according to IS:1554 (Part I) up to 1.1 KV grade. All Cables have the ISI Certification.
