Green Tea Preparation, Steeping Time and Temperature: 1 tsp, 160° - 170°, 3.5 min   Bring a tea kettle of purified water (bottled or filtered water, not tap water) to a level where steam is just beginning to escape your tea kettle, about 160 to 170 degrees. In a tea diffuser, strainer or tea filter add 1 level teaspoon of your green tea for every 6 ounces of water. Pour the heated water gently over the tea leaves allowing room should you enjoy milk or cream with your tea. If you are making a pot of tea, depending on how many ounces of water it holds, always add one more teaspoon of tea for the pot. An example would be if your pot holds 4 cups or 24 ounces of water, you would add 4 teaspoons of green tea plus one teaspoon for the pot. Allow about 2 1/2 minutes for steeping/brewing of flavored or scented green tea or small leaf green teas and 3 1/2 minutes when using full loose leaf green teas. Brewing your green tea for too long or with water that is too hot will cook the tea and produce a foul, bitter cup.
