Description When iron and molybdenum are combined, a ferro alloy called Ferro Molybdenum is formed. It is mainly available in particle size of 10-100mm, and two major grades in which pure molybdenum content is 60%-75%. With a melting point of 1900 degrees Celsius, it is used as a hardening agent.Properties of Ferro MolybdenumIt is mainly used as an additive in several amorphous metals production that results in new alloys with desirable properties. It is listed in the top 5 melting-point metals. It can be found in many heat-treatable alloy steels. In stainless steel, this ferro alloy prevents corrosion. When combined with iron, this ferro alloy strengthens and hardens into austenite. This versatile ferro alloy is also used in several high-strength low alloys. The beneficial properties of this ferro alloy make it useful in cast irons, super alloys and high-speed tool steels. When it is added to any material, it improves properties, like ferrite strength, corrosion resistance, weldability and wear resistance. It can be used for creating a protective film over other metals.Manufacturing ProcessThe initial step in the production of ferro molybdenum is transforming the mined molybdenum into molybdenum (VI) oxide (MoO3), which later on is blended with aluminum & iron oxide. This mixture is reduced by an aluminothermy reaction. Ferro molybdenum is purified by electron-beam melting process. It can be formed in fine powder or small briquettes, which are packaged in bags and steel drums, respectively.Applications Ferro molybdenum is used in ferrous alloys manufacturing. Different industrial sectors select Ferro molybdenum based on the molybdenum content to use it in manufacturing of military hardware, machine tools & equipment, load-bearing components, rotary drills and refinery tubing. It finds use in vehicles, like car, truck and trains. Stainless steel and heat-resistant steels that contain ferro molybdenum are used in several plant, equipment and systems, for instance oil-refining equipment, chemical plant, synthetic fuel plant, pump, heat exchanger, etc. It is also added in large amount in tool steels to be used in ball & rolling mills, large drill bits, high-speed machining components, dies, chisels, etc. SPECIFICATION:- Mo: 57%min

Ferro molybdenum is a ferro alloy that is generally obtained by the aluminothermic reduction of ferro silicon and technical grade molybdic oxide. After the solidification of the metal, some milling and sieving operations are carried out, thus obtaining the suitable particle size for addition in steel and cast iron. Ferro molybdenum is classified according to its molybdenum content. The most common categories are those of femo, between 60%-70%.
