Patterned glass is a not-perfectly smooth surface structure with different patterns impressed on it. The depth, size and shape of the patterns largely determine the magnitude and direction of reflection. Patterned glass usually transmits only slightly less light than clear glass. Perhaps one of the first glass types invented, stained glasses have for years been instrumental in creating architectural masterpieces and continue to find their place in architect’s creations today. As a material stained glass is glass that has been coloured by adding metallic salts during its manufacture. Laminated glass is two or more sheets joined together with an interlayer like polyvinyl butyral (PVB), to which the glasses adhere to under specific heat and pressure conditions. Once sealed together, the glass 'sandwich' behaves as a single unit and looks like a normal glass. Heat-Treated Glass   Available in both fully toughened (tempered) and heat-strengthened form, these glasses are processed through a tempering oven to increase its strength to resist impacts, mechanical loads and thermal stress breakage. Since annealed glasses are very fragile, their use in most building applications cannot be considered since they have a high risk of breakage and can result in serious injuries when broken.
