Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) decreases the time and costs associated with analytical separations. To consistently maintain these technology advantages, you need column hardware that ensures the speed and precision of your processes. The IsoBar column platform delivers a leak-proof, reliable, all-metal design with high strength threaded end fittings to meet critical system operating requirements. Few column hardware formats are more aptly suited to the rigors of ultra-high-pressure operations than IsoBar. IsoBar features Isolation Technologies unique Iso-Bore internal surface finish. This extremely smooth, flat, and ultraclean finish reduces the wall effect and significantly improves column efficiency. IsoBar offers the stability, high pressure, and high reliability critical to the optimum performance of UPLC systems.

...moresolation modular HPLC Hardware
Isolation Technologies modular HPLC hardware is more user-friendly than ordinary compression style hardware. With modular hardware, there is no need to apply precise torque to get the ferrule to grip the tube. The high pressure seal is instead formed by the threads on the tube and end fitting. There is also no problem of the frit not seating in the end fitting. The frit is contained in a cap that slides over the column forming a leak and gap-free seal. Modular hardware also eliminates safety concerns when packing at high pressures.

...morePreparative Column Hardware
IsoPrep is the most widely recognized preparative hardware for SFC and HPLC. The 21.2-mm and 30-mm columns use the modular (threaded) end fitting design, while the patented 50-mm design incorporates a sealing cap configuration secured at six points with hardened stainless steel bolts. IsoPrep columns withstand packing pressures up to 16,000 psi, greatly enhancing the stability and lifetime of the packed column.

High-performance liquid chromatography (sometimes referred to as high-pressure liquid chromatography), HPLC, is a chromatographic technique used to separate a mixture of compounds in analytical chemistry and biochemistry with the purpose of identifying, quantifying and purifying the individual components of the mixture. Some common examples are the separation and quantitation of performance enhancement drugs (e.g. steroids) in urine samples, or of vitamin D levels in serum.
...moreDuraCap Systems
DuraCap capillary columns blend unmatched packing stability, strength, and performance in one convenient platform. These durable column systems eliminate bending, breaking, and bed disruption during the packing process and operation. DuraCap end fittings are made from stainless steel and engage with the threaded protective outer shell of the capillary column. The end fitting engages the threads and captures the frit cap to create a secure, near-zero-dead-volume connection.
...moreDeuterium Lamps
A deuterium lamp uses a tungsten filament and anode placed on opposite sides of a nickel box structure designed to produce the best output spectrum. Unlike an incandescent bulb, the filament is not the source of light in deuterium lamps. Instead an arc is created from the filament to the anode, a similar process to arc lamps. Because the filament must be very hot before it can operate, it is heated for approximately twenty seconds before use. Because the discharge process produces its own heat, the heater is turned down after discharge begins. Although firing voltages are 300 to 500 volts, once the arc is created voltages drop to around 100 to 200 volts. The arc created excites the molecular deuterium contained within the bulb to a higher energy state. The deuterium then emits light as it transitions back to its initial state. This continuous cycle is the origin of the continuous ultraviolet radiation. This process is not the same as the process of decay of atomic excited states (atomic emission), where electrons are excited and then emit radiation. Instead from the molecular emission process, where radiative decay of excited states, in this case of molecular deuterium (D2), causes the effect. Because the lamp operates at high temperatures, normal glass housings cannot be used for a casing (which would also block UV radiation). Instead, a fused quartz, UV glass, or magnesium fluoride envelope is used depending on the specific function of the lamp.

Chromatography is the collective term for a set of laboratory techniques for the separation of mixtures. The mixture is dissolved in a fluid called the “mobile phase”, which carries it through a structure holding another material called the “stationary phase”. The various constituents of the mixture travel at different speeds, causing them to separate. The separation is based on differential partitioning between the mobile and stationary phases. Subtle differences in a compound’s partition coefficient result in differential retention on the stationary phase and thus changing the separation.

...moreAccel-X columns
Accel-X columns are available in 20-, 30-, and 50-mm lengths with inner diameters ranging from 1.0 mm to 4.6 mm. Short length and narrow inner diameter make Accel-X columns ideally suited for the high-speed separations and ballistic gradients commonly used in LCMS. Near-zero-dead-volume fittings permit Accel-X columns to achieve high efficiency and excellent peak shape.
