The ISI mark is a norms consistence mark for modern items in India beginning around 1950. The imprint confirms that an item adjusts to an Indian norm (IS) created by the Department of Indian Principles (BIS), the public guidelines collection of India. The ISI is an initialism of Indian Norms Organization, the name of the public principles body until 1 January 1978, when it was renamed to the Agency of the Indian Guidelines. The ISI mark is required for specific items to be sold in India, for example, electrical appliances including switches, electric engines, wiring links, radiators, kitchen machines, and so on, and different items like Portland concrete, LPG valves, LPG chambers, auto tyres, and so on. On account of most different items, ISI marks are discretionary.
