Two axis operation, either sequential or with interpolation is a requirement in most motion automation applications. ORION has developed drive control interface packages for several applications like engraving, wood working, turning, milling etc. Jobs designed on PC in Corel, AutoCad, Pro-E or few other software packages, are interpreted by a dedicated controller and are executed by stepper drives or servo drives.

Collar-band cutting machine is another Special Purpose machine automated using Orion control system. This is an automated feeding machine which is stepper controlled. A fixedsettable length of card-paper is fed through a set of rollers. Relay outputs activate a pneumatic valve movement, resulting in 150 pieces of collars per minute.

Spindle Centering Device For optimum efficiency in terms of production and quality, there are many settings to be attended on ring frame. Setting a spindle in centre of the respective ring is also a bery crucial. The conventional method used in most of the mills till now is cumbersome and inaccurate. The reason is, it solely depemds on visual judgement of the operator, which is affected by fatigue. Thus a lot of variation occurs in spindle gauging, ultimately affecting yarn quality. SPINDLE CENTERING DEVICE is introduced for accurate centering of spindle on ring frames. A very fine accuracy of 0.1 mm can be achieved with the use of this device. Obviously, it will reduce yarn breakages and imrove yarn quality.

These drives are extremely useful in precise control of speed and position. They are mostly used in moderate speed ranging from 60 to 600 RPM. Low inertia loads go well with these drives. They find application in wire cutting, linear indexing for welding automation with screw mechanism, oscillating motions, rotary indexing, label applicators, X-Y tables etc. These can be packaged with controller in single enclosure for stand-alone units to reduce wiring hassles.
