What is a dyne test? Dyne tests measure surface wettability or adhesion. Dyne is used as a unit of force in the milli- newton per meter system of units. When using dyne tests you are capable of measuring surface tension in the units millinewton per meter or dyne per centimeter. How do I check my dyne level ? When the Dyne level test pen is applied to the surface, the liquid will either form a continuous film on the surface or pull back into small droplets. If the Dyne test fluid remains as a film for 3 seconds, the substrate will have a minimum surface energy of that ink value, expressed in mN/m (Dynes). Should the Dyne test liquid reticulate or draw back into droplets in less than 1 second then the surface energy of the substrate is lower than that of the liquid itself. The exact surface energy (Dyne level) can be determined by applying a range of increasing or decreasing values of Dyne test pens.

Dyne Testing Procedure. Surface tension is the property of a liquid arising from unbalanced molecular forces at or near the surface. If it is higher than the surface energy of a material, the liquid tends to form droplets rather than spread out. Another name for an ink’s surface tension properties is ‘wettability’. Surface tension is normally measured in energy units called dynes/cm. A dyne is the amount of force required to produce an acceleration of 1 cm/sec2 on a mass of 1g. The dyne level of a material is called its surface energy. If the liquid has a dyne level lower than the material’s surface energy, then the liquid will spread out over its entire surface in a uniform wet layer. If the ink’s dyne level is equal to or higher than a material’s dyne level, the liquid will become cohesive and tend to remain in droplets.

It can withstand even dry cleaning & hot washes. It is made of hard aluminum tube & has a unique needle-point tip and the dense ink which is light resistant & opaque. Conventional laundry markers fade away with few washes however due to our proprietary ink formulation, our marker remains permanent even after repeated washes. The ink content is 30 ml which is 5 times the conventional laundry markers. It is ideal for large families, hospitals, hostels & hotel industry. It works on all fabrics including cotton, polyester, denim, synthetic, wool etc.It is recommended that the Century Laundry marker is used on fabric only and beware that some ink may spread when used on synthetic fabrics. Also, to lengthen wear and wash resistance of the marking, iron it after application. Directions of Use: Remove Cap Simply press the flexible rubber ball located at the bottom 4-5 times for cold start. Once ink starts to flow, you can start writing. When the ink flow reduces, gently press the rubber ball 2-3 times to start again. Do not press the rubber bulb when not in use. Put cap back on when finish using.
