    Horizontal Pharma Peeler Centrifuges Coupled with Conical Dryer   The centrifuge system is coupled with the conical dryer, the wet cake from the centrifuge machine is dropped directly into the dryer in a totally enclosed condition. The system is ideally suitable for toxic and hygroscopic products, sterile and USFD approved plants. As both the operations are performed in separate equipment (Centrifuge and Dryer respectively); the system has a distinct advantage over filtration + Drying Systems. The inner wall of the cone is connected to a heating arrangement and is insulated from the outer wall. The agitator picks up the wet/semi-wet cake from the center and pushes it to the periphery. PROCESS SUMMARY Step 1 The Drying vessel is mounted on a lifting & swiveling column. It is connected to the centrifuge by means of a special double value system. The active part of the valve is mounted on the centrifuge & the passive part of the vessel. This allows the drying vessel to be removed from the centrifuge totally closed & isolated. Step 2 After the product is discharged into the drying vessel, the vessel is lifted to the frequency-controlled power station. The vacuum and the heat utilities are then connected, and the drying process can be started according to drying characteristics of the product by controlling both the agitator speed and jacket heat. Step 3 After drying, a stainless-steel barrel is connected to the vessel with the same type of double valve used between the centrifuge and vessel, so that the product can be discharged in a totally isolated manner. The cleaning of the vessel is done filling with washing solution & agitating at high speed. The vessel can be inspected by opening the cover Conical Dryer Main Process Vessel (Cone) The dryer main process vessel is conical in shape, with the inside wall being a polished surface. The outside of the shell is provided with heating the surface. Over this is an insulation jacket that ensures that the heat transfer is only in one direction, i.e. only on the main shell. Dryer Top Cover The dryer top cover is hinged type openable cover and provided with insulation jacket. The cover is provided with light and sight glass flanges, Product input (Feed) nozzle having a flanged connection, vacuum filter assembly and pad flange for bearing housing agitator assembly. The inside of the cover is polished, suitable for cGMP standards. The cover is provided with hinge plates and pin with counterbalance spring unit for the ease of opening manually, without any mechanized device. Agitator & Bearing Housing  Assembly The dryer is provided with an agitator assembly consisting of a shaft and spiral blades. The spiral blades are provided throughout the process area of the dryer. The spiral blades are designed so that during rotation it has a minimum clearance between the blades and vessel wall. The rotational action of the agitator picks up wet powder from center and splashes on the sidewall of the vessel, which is heated by the heating media. In this manner, the product is dried. The shaft is supported by taper roller sealed bearings. The shaft entry inside the dryer vessel is provided with cartridge type mechanical seal assembly for leak proof sealing. Filter Assembly The filter assembly is provided on top of the dryer cover. During drying operation, a vacuum is applied inside the vessel through this assembly. The vacuum assembly is provided with specially designed filter bag holding cage, so that, when vacuum is applied the dried particulate do enter into vacuum stream and product loss is completely avoided. The bag assembly is a quick openable design, thus after every batch, the filter bag can be replaced or removed for cleaning purpose. In this manner, it fulfills the cGMP and USFDA requirements of batch contamination or mixes up. Drive: The dryer agitator assembly is driven by electric motor, mounted on the top of the shaft. The motor is driven by AC inverter variable speed drive to vary the speed of the agitator as per the process requirements. Product out-put flange & other assemblies The dryer bottom flange is provided with product out-put flange to fix product discharge valve. The valve can be fitted between flanges. The output flange is provided with nitrogen purge nozzles to flush the dried product after discharge. Seals and Gasket All the process contact gaskets and ‘O’ rings for the centrifuge and dryer are PTFE encapsulated Viton or silicon rubber to give longer sending sealing life. Also, these ensure zero-contamination, as PTFE withstands almost all material and higher temperatures.

    The Solid Filter Cake is cut with the help of a scraper system. Discharge of solids takes place at lower basket speed (around 80 RPM) which promotes gentle handling of the product. In this way, the undesirable breakage of crystals is nearly eliminated. Solids discharge through a single outlet Solids can be Discharged in totally vapor tight condition, thus there are no health hazards to the operator The complete centrifuge is pressure tested as per DIN standard. Handling of discharge solids can be easily done with the help of a conveyor or trolley. No manual contact with cake, thus no contamination. Heel Blow Back system available to dislodge the residual cake Good accessibility to the casing and basket makes quick cleaning and changeover to other products easy. Complete operation cycle can be programmed via a PLC, drastically reducing manual labor. Spray jets for efficient washing. Surface Finish Mirror or Matt Finish can be provided with Grit 220 & Above on Contact & Non-Contact areas. Drive A.C.  Inverter Drive shall be provided to vary the basket speed with built-in dynamic braking. Cleaning-In-Place (C.I.P.) Arrangement Provided in the centrifuge machine to clean the internals of the centrifuge.  CIP nozzles are placed at a different location to spray the wash liquid to all the surface which are not accessible from outside. During the cleaning process the centrifuge basket to be operated at a low speed to make cleaning more effective. The 4-Point Suspension The centrifuge is mounted on inertia platform and suspended over four vibration-isolating dampers. This provides the following unique advantages: No foundation required Modular Design with Complete Flexibility to relocate the centrifuge anywhere in the plant. Drive system (Belt & Pulleys) totally enclosed and can be purged with Nitrogen gas (Flameproof Design). Cake Sensor (Mechanical / Ultrasonic) Can be provided to limit the cake thickness in the basket. The range of the cake thickness can be adjusted to avoid material overflow. SAFETY FEATURES Zero Speed Interlock The pneumatic cylinder will automatically get engaged with the lid as soon as basket starts rotating and gets disengaged only when it completely stops which will ensure that the lid can be opened only when the basket comes to a complete halt. Proximity Sensor Shall be provided as a safety interlock for the Lid / Body. Unless the Lid / Body is closed motor cannot start and once the lid is opened motor power cuts off. Vibration Tripper Will trip the Centrifuge during excessive vibration. Vibration Monitoring System This system shall continuously monitor the vibration level of the machine. The system has two set point, one set point is for Alarm level and another set point is for trim level. The system also gives 4-20 amps output which can be hooked up to PLC. Nitrogen Blanketing System/ Nitrogen Inertisation System The Nitrogen Inertisation is provided to the centrifuge basket chamber (casing) and to the bearing housing (sealing system). This system shall ensure that during the centrifuge operation the adequate nitrogen pressure is maintained within the basket chamber and bearing housing stuffing box chamber. Therefore, creating a Flame Proof System. Note: Oxygen Analyzer can be provided in the vent line. AUTOMATION Programmable Logic Controller All the process cycles of centrifuge operations can be automated through a Programmable Logic Controller. The instruments mounted on the machine will communicate with the PLC system. The process cycles can be specifically designed and programmed to work according to the logic. Note: Intrinsically Safe Graphical control display (H.M.I) can be provided. Heel Blowback System The centrifuge machine is fitted with residual cake heel blowback system, which will remove the residual cake heel after the scraping operation. Motorised Conical Feeder It comprises concentric cones fabricated out of SS-316 sheet driven by 1 H.P. motor with frequency drive. This system facilitates uniform distribution of cake throughout the basket. Washing of the cake can also be performed through the same cone. The design also facilitates speedy extraction of mother liquor and wash liquid as well.
