Stainless Steels SS-416
Supreme steel industries produce Stainless Steel-416 that is a martensitic, free-machining, chromium steel alloy that is generally considered to be the first free-machining stainless steel. It has the highest machinability of any stainless steel at about 85% of that of a free-machining carbon steel. Martensitic stainless steels were designed to be hardenable by heat treatment and also corrosion resistant.

Type 202 stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese stainless steel which was developed to conserve nickel. Type 201 is a lower cost alternative to conventional cr-ni stainless steels such as 301 and 304. Nickel is replaced by additions of manganese and nitrogen. It is non-hardenable by thermal treatment, but may be cold worked to high tensile strengths. Type 201 is essentially nonmagnetic in the annealed condition and becomes magnetic when cold worked. Type 201 can be substituted for type 301 in many applications.

Description: CLC 1.2738 is a 300HB (30HRC) pre-hardened grade specially designed for plastic mold industry. Chromium, Molybdenum, Nickel carbon and manganese additions are optimized to have a fully martensite-bainite microstructure after quenching. The high nickel content (1%) is specially adapted to ensure a perfect homogeneity of structure and hardness through thickness even for very thick blocks (up to 700mm28"). The steel is melted in electrical furnace and refined with VOD or DH device The cleanliness of the steel is guaranteed as well as the soundness. This makes the steel particularly well adapted for mold even when polishing or chemical etching are required for surface finish quality.

Cold-work tool steels are high carbon steels that are further classified into three subgroups such as oil-hardening steels, high-carbon, high-chromium steels, and air-hardening steels. Oil-hardening cold-work steels are also known as group o steels consisting of o1, o2, o6, and o7 types. Type o1 oil-hardening cold-work steel consists of chromium, manganese, and tungsten and is relatively inexpensive. The following datasheet provides details about o1 type. Fabrication and heat treatment machinability the machinability of o1 steels is very good with a rating of 90% that of water hardening low alloy steels. Forming o1 steels can be easily formed in the annealed condition using conventional methods. Hardening o1 steels should be heated uniformly to 780-820°c (1436-1508°f) until completely heated through. If needed, the steels can be preheated at 300-500°c (572-932°f). About 30 minper 25 mm of ruling section is to be provided and then the steels should be immediately quenched in oil.
